I just bought a 95 Yamaha Blaster the other night for my wife and I am
in need of some help. The key switch has been removed, the kill switch
doesnt work and it needs a new crank case gasket. Thats what I know is
wrong with it.

Things I want to do and need your help is..
1. I want to remove the headlight but on the headlight is an oil
light. Can I remove that? I would assume so.
2.Since Im removing the headlight I will need to remove the control
for the headlight on this control is also the on / off run switch. Can
I put just a standard push button kill switch on it? IF so , where do
I unplug the old one and plug the new one in?
3. Something big sits on top of my carb, on the back side of it is 2
wires that have been snipped. What were they for?

IF someone has a wiring diagram that would be wonderful.
Please e-mail ja...@javo.org

Thanks again,
JAson

A push button or momentary contact kill switch grounds out one side of the
coil. Often a dedicated ground wire is sent to a enclosed style switch that
doesn't simply press down into the handlebar for ground. This switch has 2
separate wires to complete the ground circuit. Test the handlebar for ground
to the motor case or frame ground with an ohm meter to see if a single wire
motorcycle style kill switch may work. Trace or meter the wire path of the
stock kill switch. 1or 2 wires will lead from the handlebar unit to a ground
point and / or the point in the ignition spark "kill" circuit.
The coil has two connections:
1. Ignition (key on) positive battery supply terminal. 2. The terminal
receiving pulses from the electronic ignition module. This contact may have
an external condenser tied to it. This is the same point you want to ground
out with the kill switch. The other connection will short battery or the 12V
magneto output to ground, not good! Get a manual the specs, prints and info
well save you mistakes and typing.
