Hello,

I just bought to Honda Rancher's. One is a 4x2 for my wife and mine is a
4x4. So far, they have been great. We have noticed one problem with the
4x2. The rear tires are out of round. You can't really even tell unless
you are on a really smooth surface (like the street) going pretty slow (1st
gear). The ATV actually bumps up and down every time the tire turns. You
can actually see the suspension bump in & out.

At first, it looked like an axle was bent or the drive shaft was binding up
causing the suspension to compress. I later jacked up the back end and you
can see that it is the tires (both of them). When jacked up, the suspension
never moved.

When we pickup up the 4x2, it had a lot of air in tires (10 psi). I let
them out to 3 psi as recommended. When I called the dealer about the
problem, he said to air it back of up to 10 psi for a month to stretch the
tire back out??? Will this really fix the problem or should I just try to
get the tire replaced under warranty??

If I were to guess, it looks like the 4 wheeler set on the show room floor
to long with out being moved and not enough air in the tires.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Phillip

I've got the same problem with my Goodyears on my 2000 Recon. It seems
to be worse after the machine has been parked for a while. I suspect
it is due to the very low pressure and the limited number of plies. I
hadn't thought of over inflating the tires for a while to reduce it but
that might help. I think a better solution but not a practical one
would be to jack the ATV off of the ground when not in use so hte tires
don't touch. Others may have better ideas or more information, this is
just my belief.

Sounds like you may have the reason for it, but no solution....

Sitting in a showroom can cause lots of little things to happen, a friend
bought a 98 blaster in 99 for his little boy and the plastic had faded on
one side of the seat, but not on the other... took it outside and it's
obvious.. the florescent(sp) light made some sort of impression over the
seat.... they replaced the plastic of course...

If you put some miles on the tires and putting alittle more air in usually
takes care of the prpblem it is real bad hear in MN As the cold actually
decreases air preasure But After you ride the beast for a mile or 2 it goes
away.
