Just got a brand new Banshee and it bogs like crazy. Idle is fine then gun
it and it bogs or dies out like it is starving for fuel. The dealer says
they all do it and you can't get rid of it. I would like to know if any
other Banshee owners have this problem.
Thanks

My friends 98 Banshee had a bogging problem. They dealerships said that
nothing was wrong. After talking to our parts guy he had him cut the
trottle position sensor wires off of each card and wire them together. I
can't remember excatly how he did it but he hasen't had a problem since
then.

Since when does a Banshee have a throttle position sensor?? If you are
refering to the TORS system, it should shut off the engine if it detects a
stuck throttle.

I can tell you this if your banshee is brand new (bone stock) and is bogging
something ain't right. I know a couple of people whose banshees never bogged
since they bought them. Tell the dealer you got the bike from to check your
carb to see if it needed to be jetted. Check your owners manual to see what
notch your needle should be on. Depending on your altitude.

It shouldn't be bogging if it is bone stock. Sometimes when someone adds an
aftermarket part like pipes or carbs or air filter, they will change the fuel
requirements of the motor and need to rejet, but otherwise it shouldn't have
this problem. I would take it back to the dealer and make them fix it!

The cause of your Banshee bog might be your own habits, and not the
machine. You state that after idling, when you get on the throttle it
bogs. When the machine is idling, unburnt oil is collecting in the
engine, and when you hit the throttle this oil is thrust into the
combustion chamber. Oil in there is OK, but too much oil will foul
plugs. The solution? Periodic throttle blips while idling, or just
shut the thing off.

I thought that might be the problem also but the problem also accurs when
I'm riding at speed and let up to turn, when I hit the throttle again it
either boggs and dies or pauses a second then trhe RPMs race back up. The
bike was only purchased last week, the dealer says they all do it which I
have a hard time believing and the warany on the motor is 30 days.

Thanks

I am not sure how a Yamaha warranty works as I have only bought used
product. Why not try taking it to another dealer. The warranty should
also be valid there. Its amazing how much difference a good mechanic
makes over a mediocre one.
