I am handicaped and can not make it to a polaris dealer. Is the transmission
fluid in this quad the same as regular auto trans fluid? Please help if you
can. Thanks Larry

This machine does not use Automatic Teansmission fluid . The transmission is
called Polaris Variable Transmission. It uses to variable clutches, On a
drive and a driven connected by a v-belt. No oil used in clutch system like
a car system

I have my head in my ass! I know the belt part of the trans, but there is a
place in the bottom of the engine where fluid goes. About two years ago I
was plowing my driveway and the fluid leaked out. It was pinkish (redish) in
color and I did not confirm where it came from. Maybe its gear oil or
something, and upon opening the fluid fill hole, it is empty. Also I can't
switch the gear out of neutrel. This machine has a three position knob,
forward, neutrel, and reverse. What the heck was/is this fluid, and what
can I use that I can get localy> Thanks again.

I think that the fluid is gear oil. The weight of oil would depend on
they type of stuff you do with your machine. If you work it hard, and
long, then a heavy 75w oil might be in order. If however you dont push
the machine at all, or use it mainly in colder temps, use a high quality
motor oil like a 25w50 or something.

IT is Transmission fluid.!(GM Type) Don't use oil glop it will gum up. I would
guess after a year or so with no fluid the gear case is seized.
