Now there's a Real Conspiracy for you.
The GOP realized the tea party was a danger so got the IRS involved
and then blamed it on Obama.

In Washington State the right tried to get the government to reveal the
list of donors to the anti-marriage equality referendum, and the left
successfully fended them off. I don't care which way it goes, so long
as the rules are the same for both parties.

I don't want special rules for anyone. It's bad enough that we allow
money to corrupt our entire electoral system. It's worse that we don't
even have public accountability for those who have bought the
politicians.

I think their constituents demand to not be fucked by
government, and, as such, gridlock is the only way for that to happen.

But then: you don't care. You want to be fucked by Big Daddy
Government. You're just as bad as the fundy christians who want to be
fucked by Big Daddy God.

You're right, Don. Quality of life was undoubtedly so much better when
people lived as small bands of nomadic hunter-gatherers, with no central
government. Look at the Native Americans: they were so content and
peaceful, they just gave away their land to the European invaders.

They were at a disadvantage, they didn't have a concept of owning land.
And the invaders only began speaking of the "eternal" principle of
private property after they had relocated the native people to the
shitty land. But there was a major adjustment when gold was discovered
under some of that shitty land in the Black Hills. That was what the
whole thing with Custer and Sitting Bull was all about.

Some Native American nations did; some other didn't. Native American
culture is *not* monolithic. When the first British colonies were
established on the east coast of North America, there were 550-700
different Native American nations (depending on how you reckon what
constitutes a separate "tribe") in North and Mezo-America. Their
outlooks, spiritual viewpoints, and systems of governing and outlook
on owning things differed widely.

Some people can't handle the truth. This is more of the truth:

I don't believe the Huffington Post is a conservative organization:

<http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/20/white-house-irs-probe_n_3307928.html>

This case is about freedom of the speech.

Some tea party groups are saying that various members have told them they
want to resign so that the IRS will NOT harrass them.

The end goal may have been to cause as many people as possible to resign
or not joint conservative organizations like tea party groups.

How would you feel if the IRS has targeted the members of the ACLU or the NAACP.

The IRS has targeted the NAACP, and the ACLU, to the best of my
knowledge, isn't tax-exempt.

Read this. It shows how your buddies have misused the 501(c)(4) status,
thus making scrutiny of their political allies reasonable:

http://www.thenation.com/blog/174458/five-501c4-groups-might-have-broken-law?rel=emailNation%22#

Or:

http://tinyurl.com/n2nn2k3

"The real scandal has been the blatant abuse of 501(c)(4) status by
dozens of lobbyists and operatives who have set up such tax-exempt
organizations as political slush funds to conceal money in political
campaigns. Since the Citizens United decision, 501(c)(4) groups, have
operated as Super PACsraising and spending tens of millions in
corporate fundswithout disclosing a dime of their contributors. IRS
rules state that the primary activity of such groups cannot relate to
political advocacy, yet examples abound of 501(c)(4) groups spending
well over 50 percent of their funds on attack ads, political action
committees and other clearly political expenses. These potential
violations of the law have gone on for several years now, with very
little interest from the Beltway media or Capitol Hill Republicans, many
of whom owe their election to spending by bogus 501(c)(4) organizations."

The above seems to be a different issue than the current scandal. In the
current scandal, the IRS only focused on conservative groups that had
certain key words in their title such as these two: "tea party",
"patriot".

The above story appears to me to be about the IRS going after 501 groups.
That is far different than the current IRS scandal.

Interesting you should ask that when your whole part of this thread was
a change of subject from what went before.

No, I am not changing the subject; I'm giving broader context. Not the same.

I don't believe it was against the law or the IRS rules to go after 501
organizations since some of those those orgarizations were liberal and
some were conservative. The story would only be the same if they only
targeted liberal 501 organzations and totally ignored conservative 501
organizations.

Well now, that's mighty odd. Where is the list of all the
liberal 501's that applied and were targeted, given the run around for
two years? We know the IRS used
keywords that included "Tea party", and "patriot" to identify
conservative
organizations. And they went after groups that criticized how the
govt
is run. What were the keywords that they used to select the lib
organizations?
Where is the list of lib organizations complaining that they have been
denied 501 status for the last two years, like the conservative ones?

If what you claim is true, then Obama must really, really, be dumb
to not have the list of the lib organizations that were similarly
screwed.

Supporters of the ACLU can choose to make a contribution to the
American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU Foundation or both. A
contribution to either organization will be used to support, promote
and defend civil liberties.

Both organizations support the ACLU's extensive litigation,
communications and public education programs. However, certain
important activities carried out by the ACLU cannot be supported with
tax-deductible gifts. This is primarily in the area of lobbying,
because federal law limits the amount that a tax-exempt organization
like the ACLU Foundation can spend on lobbying.

There was a lady on Fox News earlier today. She works for a tea party
organization and said that the IRS harrassed that tea party group for over
a year. She said that the tea party group will be filing a lawsuit against
the IRS in the near future. If they harrassed a liberal organization, you
should tell them to file a lawsuit.

cases from years ago where it is ALLEGED that the IRS gave a few lib
organizations a hard time. There is no evidence they were
specifically targeted.
In the current case, you have the IRS ADMITTING that they targeted
HUNDREDS of conservative organizations after an Inspector General
investigation forced them to admit it. Oh, and if it's all just an
harmless
mistake that was made in
an attempt to group applications, why is it that Louis Lerner, who
headed
the 501 IRS group has told Congress she will plead the fifth today and
refuse to answer questions?

And why is it that with the IRS having been investigated for over a
year,
they denied there was any problem and lied to Congress the whole time?
Why is it that we only learned of this when Lerner answered a question
that just happened to come up at an American Bar Assoc. meeting in DC,
when she first told those there that the IRS had been targeting
conservatives,
using keywords "Tea Party" and "patriot", among others and she
apologized for it? Why on a conference call with the media later
that day,
when asked why she happened to disclose it there, did she say "Someone
asked a question and I answered it."? Why did we learn just a few
days
later, when the head of the IRS was put under oath in front of
Congress,
that the question was actually planted, the answer she would give
discussed
beforehand and that he, the IRS head, was part of that planting
operation?

Why is it that Obama, like Sgt Schultz, doesn't know anything about
anything?
He claims the white house only learned of this year long investigation
on April 21,
when his counsel was notified. Yet he claims he didn't know anything
about it
until he heard it last week on the news. Really, how dumb does he
think we
all are? And since then, we've already learned that not only did his
counsel
know about it since at least april 21, but also the Sec of Treasury
knew about
it in early March and the Deputy Treas. Secretary knew about it last
June.
Yet, nobody told Obama about what even a moron would know is a major
problem with huge repercussions? Sure, I believe that.......

And then Obama sends his minions out to tell the press that:

A - a president shouldn't know anything that's going on at the IRS

B- when it's discovered that something is very wrong like this, going
back
2 years, that the right thing to do is just wait until someone starts
an
investigation

C - while that investigation is going on, neither the president, nor
sec of
treasury, IRS head, no one should take any action to fix what is an
obvious
serious abuse of power, because it's "still under investigation".

D - the president should just wait until he hears about it on the
news,

good grief!

And if that isn't bad enough, after firing the head of the IRS who was
retiring in 2 months anyway, Obama appoints the #2 guy to take over?
Really? The #2 guy in the same corrupt organization? In private
industry
what would be done is to bring in a CEO from the outside, someone
squeaky clean, to clean up the mess and restore respect. I think
eventually we are gonna get there. So far, the response has been
going down the path of Nixon.

BTW, where is Joe Biden? I hear he's locked up in his bedroom,
staying far, far away from the stench of all Obama's scandals, while
rehearsing
the oath of office so maybe, just maybe he can get through it without
saying something dumb.

Because the Inspector General of the IRS has conducted an audit of the
IRS and found that they were targeting conservative groups unfairly.
Because
the IRS, specifically Louis Lerner, who heads the 501 group, publicly
stated
that the IRS had targeted conservative groups, using keywords like
"Tea Party" and "patriot" and apologized for it. What you are trying
to do
is like blaming a rape victim for an attack because they were in the
wrong place at the wrong time.

Oh, and you can stop with the BS that the IRS only denied one
application
and that was for a lib organization. I'm not even sure that's true,
but it matters
not a wit. They didn't have to DENY anything. All they had to do
was NOT
APPROVE the application, while asking endless irrelevant and intrusive
questions for two plus years. Questions like give us a list of all
your members.
Provide us with a list of all your contacts with the media and
transcripts or
videotapes of all interviews. Provide us with a list of all
politicians you've
spoken with...... Provide us a list of the names of all your board
members,
there family members, where those family members work, etc.

BTW, if nothing is wrong, why is Louis Lerner, head of the IRS 501
group going to plead the fifth today before Congress?

If the questions were routine, that would be one thing. But
some of the examples I've heard were "provide us with a list
of all your media contacts and transcripts or video tapes of
any interviews". Or, "list all politicians that your organization
has had contact with". It's really, really funny
to watch the libs, who are the first ones to scream bloody
murder over any intrusion on civil rights, either real or
imagined, sit there and defend what's going on here.

And then you have Benghazi, where 8 months later, we
still don't know anything about what Obama did or did not
do after 5PM, which was the time the attack on the
consulate started. If they aren't hiding something, like
that he was completely uninvolved for the duration, then
why don't we have a simple timeline from 5PM for the
next 8 hours or so of who he talked to, any orders given,
etc?

The lady that worked for a tea party organization claimed that she had to
send the IRS file folder boxes filled with various types of data that the
IRS demanded. That means she had to make millions of copies of various
documents.

It was harrassment to the max. That is why she is planning to file a
lawsuit since the IRS spokesman had admitted they were harrassing
conservative organizations.

Approval delayed is approval denied.

Some applicants have been waiting up to three years for a determination.

So what is the average wait time overall for all applicants since 2009?
What was the average wait time before then? What was the average work
load of case investigators, before and after that date?

These things are necessary to understand the situation.

We need more info. about that liberal group. For example, did they
complete the proper forms? Did they do everything that they were required
to do to be labelled a 501 organization?

The IRS made have had a good reason for turning down the liberal
organization. If the liberal organization believes the IRS should have
approved them, they should file a lawsuit.

Why not ask the same questions about the right-wing groups you are so
butt-hurt about? If we need more info on the liberal group to understand
if it was properly denied a tax-exempt status, shouldn't we also need to
know more about the radical right-wing crazies' situations to know
whether they needed the scrutiny they got?

Yes or no.

Inquiring minds want to know.

That's a good question. As a result of your question, I re-read the
article that was in yesterday's newspaper. I copied this line from the
article:

"The inspector general's audit..."

That means to me that the inspector general examined the IRS records and
found evidence that conservative groups such as tea party organizations
were targeted.

That's good enough for me. Is it good enough for you?

The IRS spokesman apologized for targeting conservative organizations.
That is an indication of guilt.

The article did not discuss the liberal organization mentioned in the
above post so we don't know about that case.

Yes. I clearly stated that the inspector general's audit examined the

Ask the Insepctor General, who looked into the whole thing for
over a year and concluded that had unfairly targeted conservative
groups.
Or ask the IRS themselves, who admitted they unfairly targeted
conservative groups and issued an apology. You remember....
The apology that just happened to come at the American Bar Assoc.
conference in DC in response to a question from someone in the
audience. It only took about a week for it to be discovered the
question and answer were planted and planned by the IRS,
including the head of the IRS.
And just another few days more to learn that the planting and
planning of that fake question involved not only IRS, but senior
White House staff. Gee, I wonder what we'll find out in the
next week, month and year?

A friend of mine is trying to qualify for unemployment benefits in NY.
He's paid into the system for 30+ years and never collected a dime.
He worked in NYC, but lives in NJ. First they gave him incorrect info
as to which state to apply in. Then, because he applied in NJ,
instead
of someone simply telling him to apply in NY, they essentailly just
kept saying, we're working on it, just wait. That went on for months.
Then they finally said "Oh, you need to apply in NY". Then NY
started
jerking him around. They finally set up an interview for him to come
in
to speak with them. He couldn't make the meeting, so he told them
he needed to reschedule it. They asked why and he told them
the truth, which was that he was going to a job interview overseas.
Well, guess what happens then? Now you go into the special pile
for an investigation..... wtf? You would think they would be happy
that one is looking for a job anywhere..... He just had his
interview,
but that is just the normal interview. He still has no meeting
scheduled
with those conducting the "investigation" and hasn't received a dime,
nor will he until the "investigators" say he's eligible. This BS has
been going on for over 8 months now....

I think the real issue here is they know this guy was making
a six figure salary, so they figure screw him. On the other hand,
you have people sitting on their asses, choosing not to work, who
know exactly how to game the system, collecting...... Collecting
that and all kinds of handouts, eg welfare, food stamps.....

You might well suspect that. I see no comparable echo-chamber on the
left as I do on the right. Take a look at how most right-wingers
actually thought Romney would win, right up until the night of the
election.

If you look at the relative rate of Koolaide-drinking, I suspect
(there's that word again!) that the right drinks a bunch more of it than
the left.

It's a effort to cause him to get so frustrated that he will give up and
drop out. The experts have advised them they can save millions of dollars
by not granting their clients with disability payments. The end goal is to
cause at least 50% of their clients to drop out and give up. You should
advise him to keep trying and to not give up.
