Why do you feel the need to lie about us to our faces?

Why don't you get an education?

Why do you pretend that the objective results of origins-related
scientific research are anything to do with atheism and vice versa?

Why do you pretend that what has been observed in quantum mechanics
doesn't happen?

Why do you pretend these are beliefs rather than results?

You've been corrected on these falsehoods every time you have pulled
this bullshit.

So why do you keep repeating what you know is falsehood?

What's wrong with you?

pursuit of science becomes convinced that a Spirit is manifest in the
Laws of the Universe ---- a spirit vastly superior to that of Man, and

Ooooh, is it "Quote Einstein" time again?
Doesn't the time just FLY?

Here ya go, Davey:

"I cannot conceive of a personal God who
would directly influence the actions of
individuals, or would directly sit in
judgment on creatures of his own
creation."

"The word god is for me nothing more than

the expression and product of human
weaknesses, the Bible a collection of

honourable, but still primitive legends
which are nevertheless pretty childish.
No interpretation no matter how subtle
can (for me) change this."

"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and
punishes the objects of his creation,
whose purposes are modeled after our own -
- a God, in short, who is but a
reflection of human frailty. Neither can
I believe that the individual survives
the death of his body, although feeble
souls harbor such thoughts through fear
or ridiculous egotisms. I do not believe
in immortality of the individual, and I
consider ethics to be an exclusively
human concern with no superhuman
authority behind it."

"I cannot conceive of a God who rewards
and punishes his creatures, or has a will
of the kind that we experience in
ourselves. Neither can I nor would I want
to conceive of an individual that
survives his physical death; let feeble
souls, from fear or absurd egoism,
cherish such thoughts."

Hello, I used to work in the same department with
one of the physicists who proved not only that something
comes from nothing, but that it's happening constantly,
all around us, all the time.

The experiment was SO STUPID that he
received the Nobel in physics for it.

Hope this helps.

This was the loonie who when we demanded he either prove his pretend
friend or shut up in his very first thread here, demanded proof for
the Statue of Liberty which would convince a solipsist - and lied that
he was "arguing like an atheist".

Don't expect any honesty or intelligence from this one.

I guess you know that it was "dice" not poker.
In a debate with Niel Bohr over quantium mechanics, Einstein reemarked
"I'm convinced that God doesn't play dice with the universe". Bohr
responded, "you don't tell God what not to do".

I don't why! I am a nuclear engineer, but I don't design or built
anything. All I've been able to do is disassemble 40+ years old
nuclear power plants. It's a real tragedy and a shame - this is cheap,
reliable and safe energy. Also hydrogen fusion could, with sufficient
funds be possible, but if it became practicable, politics would not
permit it to be used. I'm a dying breed in that I know how to design a
nuclear power source for a plant, but if in the future the US decides
to build new plants, we'll have to import engineers from France,
England or Russia. France is decades ahead of us anyway. Russia isn't.
England(??) maybe.

This one accidently got away from me. In any case, the second law of
thermodynamics does not confute evolution. In that once an energy
source is accessable, a conversion method is available and a mechanism
for fabrication is in place life happens and continues.

Oh dear. You claim to be a nuclear physicist and a professor of
physics at a respected academy in WV.

You misquote Newton's 2nd law as Einstein's 1st law.
Newton's 2nd law has nothing absolutely to do with entropy.
There is no such law that says that entropy can neither be created or
destroyed, and you may be confusing energy with entropy, and
conservation of energy STILL is not Newton's 2nd law.

I think you've just told me everything I need to know about your
knowledge of physics.

for your edification "DR" GW.

the free online dictionary gives the definition of mendacious as
follows

Adj. 1. mendacious - given to lying; "a mendacious child"
untruthful - not expressing or given to expressing the truth; "the
statement given under oath was untruthful"; "an untruthful person"
2. mendacious - intentionally untrue; "a mendacious statement"
false - not in accordance with the fact or reality or actuality; "gave
false testimony under oath"; "false tales of bravery"

and since your educational knowledge seems to be less that a high
school student should be I will assume you also don't know the
definition of "edification"

edification [ˌɛdɪfɪˈkeɪʃən]
n 1. improvement, instruction, or enlightenment, esp when
morally or spiritually uplifting
2. the act of edifying or state of being edified

Hope this helps "DR" GW

McCain said he would start an nuclear program to build 40 odd plants
by 2030 and eventually 100. Obama promised he would not oppose nuclear
plants. But I don't expect anything of President Obama in this.
Yet, I believe he could actually be the one person who could get
such a program going. Most of the opposition groups would yield
to his leadership. I don't think he has the interest. It would have
a second valuable effect. It would force competition with oil producers
and lower cost. Electric autos would become more feasable, with
fuel cells and as of yet unknown energy storage systems. This
would have a positive effect on the enviroment, and globle warming.

No trully wise man would ever state out loud that there is no God.

If we can't get a man to take Pascal's wager, fully, then at least
that man would have to be mentally deficient to proclaim that no God
exists, don't you agree?

Pres. Bush did indeed pronounciate it "nucular", which by Occam's

The problem with "Doc" here is that he's a stupid
troll. He keeps on stupidly letting it slip that
he's actually rather intelligent, and it's
trivially easy to see that he's too smart to
be as stupid as he stupidly tries to come

Nothing, Sport. It's just wrong. The correct statement is that
*energy* can neither be created nor destroyed, only altered in form.
And it's not an Einstein quote. It's the first law of thermodynamics.

*Entropy* is the term used to denote the tendency of things, when left
to their own devices, to move toward a state of equilibrium. It's why
cold things (relative to the ambient temperature) warm up and hot
things cool down.

Hope that clears things up for ya, Sunshine.

Nope. Sorry.

"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product
of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still
primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No
interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this. "

- Letter to philosopher Eric Gutkind, January 3, 1954

"I have repeatedly said that in my opinion the idea of a personal God
is a childlike one. You may call me an agnostic, but I do not share
the crusading spirit of the professional atheist whose fervor is
mostly due to a painful act of liberation from the fetters of
religious indoctrination received in youth. I prefer an attitude of
humility corresponding to the weakness of our intellectual
understanding of nature and of our own being."

- Albert Einstein to Guy H. Raner Jr., Sept. 28, 1949, quoted by
Michael R. Gilmore in Skeptic magazine, Vol. 5, No. 2

"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious
convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not
believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have
expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called
religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the
world so far as our science can reveal it."

- Albert Einstein, letter to an atheist (1954), quoted in Albert
Einstein: The Human Side, edited by Helen Dukas & Banesh Hoffman

I ask you, do those quotes read like the words of a theist?

There are two ways of interpreting the vacuum fluctuations that you
are alluding to:
(1) Something can come out of a vaccum -> therefore something can come
from nothing.
(We were wrong to think that something cannot come from nothing)

(2) The vacuum isnt nothing.
(We were wrong to think of the vacuum as nothing.)

I actually vote for number 2 as being the correct understanding.
The vacuum has properties - empty space has properties.

We didnt need the Casimi effect to come to this conclusion.
When James Clerk Maxwell figured out that an electromagnetic wave will
propagate through a vacuum we knew that the vacuum was not nothing.

The vacuum contains force fields - Heisenberg says the fields cannot
be zero at all times - although they can be zero "on average" - so
when the field is non zero - there is something there.
Hence the Casimer effect and "Zero point energy".

Mark.

Actually, I may tend to vote the same way.

On the other hand, Victor Stenger, in his last book
I read, claims that it can be demonstrated that
"nothing" is inherently unstable, and will tend to
evolve into something. Clearly, from the preceding
sentence, I didn't totally get what he was saying
(and perhaps it was just a re-statement of the
virtual particles bit). I should go back and re-read.

I actually wasn't referring to Casimir in my Brush With
Greatness, but to Willis Lamb.

Yeah, but the Schrodenberg uncertainty principle states that we can never know
how fast God's going in that box, and if we open it to take a look, all we find
are delicious puff pastries!

So it's kind of a wash.

No no, quote it right. It's "God does not play Crazy 8's", and it's by
Nicolai Tesla.

"F=ma" is a lot closer to what Newton wrote
than it is to anything that Einstein ever said.

"F=ma" says nothing about entropy.
