Be careful what you wish for, dude. You might find a few atheists
showing you the less flowery portions of your own bible.

Actually, there are always a couple of bible study threads going on in
this NG. The participants point out some inaccuracies, contradictions
and moral absurdities of the bible.

Oh, please do. Learning what the Bible really says has created so many
atheists it isn't even funny.

Sure, we'll be glad to show you how silly your Book of Bullshit is.

BTW, how can you "take it back for jesus" when it was created by
atheists for atheists? Is your god a thief?

Listen, moron. This group has never been in the posession of your idiot
*GAWD!* and it was started with the intention of not having to listen to the
incessant yammering from drooling, brainless chuckleheads like you.
Therefore, there's no need to even bring up the idea of "taking it back" for
jeeeeeeezus.

And a second idea you really ought to try and understand is that studying
the xian
book-o-blood is the very thing that made many of us atheists to begin with.
When I started reading all of the bible, I was searching for a reason to
start believing again. What I found was hundreds of reasons to finally
accept the truth that your religion is nothing but a bunch of barbaric
superstitions and lies, and that I was a fool to ever have believed them in
the first place.

Now, either try conversing with us or go some place where you feel like
conversing with others who think the way you do. Your behavior is insulting
and stupid. It is certainly not welcome, and I can't see how you can hope to
gain any converts with it.

Another deluded fool for Jeeeezus!
********************************
Sacrifice is required by God:

Ex 20:23-26 - "You shall not make gods of silver alongside me, nor shall you
make for yourselves gods of gold. You need
make for me only an altar of earth and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings
and your offerings of well-being, your sheep and your
oxen; in every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to
you and bless you. But if you make for me an
altar of stone, do not build it of hewn stones; for if you use a chisel upon
it you profane it. You shall not go up by steps to my
altar, so that your nakedness may not be exposed on it."

Ex 29:8-14 - Then you shall bring his sons, and put tunics on them, and you
shall gird them with sashes and tie headdresses on
them; and the priesthood shall be theirs by a perpetual ordinance. You shall
then ordain Aaron and his sons. You shall bring the
bull in front of the tent of meeting. Aaron and his sons shall lay their
hands on the head of the bull, and you shall slaughter the
bull before the Lord, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and shall take
some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns
of the altar with your finger, and all the rest of the blood you shall pour
out at the base of the altar. You shall take all the fat that
covers the entrails, and the appendage of the liver, and the two kidneys
with the fat that is on them, and turn them into smoke
on the altar. But the flesh of the bull, and its skin, and its dung, you
shall burn with fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering.

Eze 43:18-21 - Then he said to me: Mortal, thus says the LORD God: These are
the ordinances for the altar: On the day when
it is erected for offering burnt offerings upon it and dashing blood against
it, you shall give to the Levitical priests of the family of
Zadok, who draw near to me to minister to me, says

the LORD God, a bull for a sin offering. And you shall take some of its
blood, and put it on the four horns of the altar, and on
the four corners of the ledge, and upon the rim all around; thus you shall
purify it and make atonement for it. You shall also take
the bull of the sin offering, and it shall be burnt in the appointed place
belonging to the temple, outside the sacred area.

Eze 43:27 - When these days are over, then from the eighth day onward the
priests shall offer upon the altar your burnt
offerings and your offerings of well-being; and I will accept you, says the
LORD God.

Mal 1:6-9 - A son honors his father, and servants their master. If then I am
a father, where is the honor due me? And if I am a
master, where is the respect due me? says the Lord of hosts to you, O
priests, who despise my name. You say, "How have we
despised your name?" By offering polluted food on my altar. And you say,
"How have we polluted it?" By thinking that the
Lord's table may be despised. When you offer blind animals in sacrifice, is
that not wrong? And when you offer those that are
lame or sick, is that not wrong? Try presenting that to your governor; will
he be pleased with you or show you favor? says the
Lord of hosts. And now implore the favor of God, that he may be gracious to
us. The fault is yours. Will he show favor to any
of you? says the Lord of hosts.

Eph 5:1,2 - Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in
love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a
fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

****************************
Sacrifice is not required by God:

Ps 40:6 - Sacrifice and offering you do not desire, but you have given me an
open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering you have
not required.

Ps 50:8-13 - Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings
are continually before me. I will not accept a bull
from your house, or goats from your folds. For every wild animal of the
forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all
the birds of the air, and all that moves in the field is mine. If I were
hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and all that is in it
is mine. Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?

Ps 51:16,17 - For you have no delight in sacrifice; if I were to give a
burnt offering, you would not be pleased. The sacrifice
acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God,
you will not despise.

Prov 21:3 - To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD
than sacrifice.

Is 1:11 - What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? Says the LORD. I
have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the
fat of fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or
of goats.

Jer 7:21-23 - Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Add your burnt
offerings to your sacrifices, and eat the flesh.
For in the day that I brought your ancestors out of the land of Egypt, I did
not speak to them or command them concerning
burnt offerings and sacrifices. But this command I gave them, "Obey my
voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my
people; and walk only in the way that I command you, so that it may be well
with you."

Hos 6:6 - For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of
God rather than burnt offerings.

M. FullGospelRanchMinistries, you have used a biblical quotation in order to
murder thoughtful (if oft-times hilariously ironic and sarcastic) human
interaction.

I accuse you, and find you guilty of gross and horrendous violence against our
genteel sensibilities by using a scriptural quotation as a weapon.

There is no punishment and no sentence, for I am a but a humble denizen of

Be informed that you have revealed yourself as bearer of violence, steeped in
violence, promulgating violence, justifying violence, and ignorant of your own
violence.

<FullGospelRanch Ministries>

I have read this list, and these are not contradictions. They can all be
explained most easily, and you will see that they are not contradictions
at all!

Not that it means that I will be the one doing the explaining. You'll
just have to trust that there are indeed explanations for all of them.

Here's a shortcut. If someone insists that there are no contradictions
in the Bible, simply ask them to write an account of the resurrection,
from the trial to the ascention, that contains all of the facts of the
Gospels and Pauline Epistles, but contradicts none of them.

It's impossible.

You mean our pet christians? The dung beatles of superstition. The
mangy little mutts humping our legs for Stick-boy?

Don't do it! Having Goodsalt, Frank, Boaty, Shypher, Chan, Kim and
Ticky is one thread will trigger a core melt down on a.a. It'll be
like a Doomsday Ignorant Bomb

I request that the EAC immediately stop production of the
Anti-rapture helmets and begin development of a defense against the
Doomsday Ignorant Bomb. I also request that all members be sent a memo
ordering them to unplug all EAC warning devices (Irony-O-Meters,
Asshole-O-Meters, Pascal-O-Meters etc) and that they be placed three
meter hole at least one hundred meters away and covered in concrete of
at least six thousand psi. with a grid of #8 rebar, 4" oc.

I don't know about the rest of you, but every needle on my Meter
Array is currently dead center and vibrating. I've never seen this
happen before.

I don't think it'd be all that bad, Steve. After all Sky-phart and Tony were

INT. CHURCH

They are startled by a LOUD BEEP. They turn. Hicks
is intent on his Irony-O-Meter. BEEP. BEEP.

HICKS
Behind us.

He gestures at the corridor they just passed through.

RIPLEY
One of us?

COMPUTER (V.O)
Warning. Christian presence detected.

Vasquez swings the smart-gun to ready position on
its support arm, locking it with an authoritative
CLICK. She and Hicks head toward the source of the
signal, the others following.

Vasquez nods to Hicks with grim satisfaction.

VASQUEZ
Let's rock.

They OPEN FIRE simultaneously.

Vasquez rips off her headset. She is riveted to the
targetting screen, moving ferret-quick in a pivoting
dance. Thunder and lightning. Better than sex for
her. FLASH-CRACK!

An CHRISTIAN SCREECH from the darkness.

CHRISTIAN
OOhh! She killed a Christian
everybody! She killed a christian.
Murder! Murder! Murder! Bloodthirsty
atheist!

BANG! Vasquez lets off a shot at the second christian's torso.

HOLY WATER sprays from the christian's wounds as it thrashes
on the ground.

CHRISTIAN
Jesus saves! Jesus saaaaaves!

As the Christian roles over a jet of HOLY WATER catches Hick's
face and burns through it like acid.

HICKS
(face dissolving)
Bloody religious fanatic...

He falls down dead, the IRONY-O-METER still in his hands, still racing.

VASQUEZ
Let's get the fuck out of here!

Ripley grabs the little girl and they all leap for the church doors and
hit the dirt.

The Irony-O-Meter EXPLODES behind them.

How did you know that ? ?

Indeed my Dutch Bible here shows a grave spelling error
saying "nier" (kidney) in stead of "niet" (not)

Shall we talk dutch from here on?

Not only that but he is currently very busily
collecting other peoples' 'explanations' for the
contradictions. I predict that he will be upset when he
learns that these 'explanations' will be proven wrong.

It might be fun to see their web page. :)

I'm not Christian either, but if Hattan's in, I'm in. Between the two of
us, we'll tear your Bible to shreds. Which version are you using? Is it
the one with the "Precious Moments" cover and all the nasty bits
missing?

OK. So, you're about to have your feelings hurt, because you've just
bought yourself a shitload of derision from those of us here on
alt.atheism who know your Bible much better than you do. You're about to
get several URL's to sites which offer compilations and summaries of
hundreds of specific Bible contradictions. Flustered, you'll deny that
any of them are contradictions. When your feet are held to the fire,
you'll start in with the usual weak apologetics: copyist errors, the
ever-popular "taken out of context" bleat (without the required
explanation of the correct context), the nearly-as-popular "You have to
read the Bible in the original Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic texts," and a
general ad-hominem logical fallacy of dismissing the criticisms of the
Bible because they were written by people who don't necessarily
presuppose the Bible is true.

But that all misses the point.

We're not here to convince you that there ARE contradictions in the
Bible. Speaking for myself, I don't give a tinker's cuss what you
believe, as long as you don't go insane with a high-powered weapon
anywhere near me or my family trying to enforce your beliefs.

You're supposed to be here to convince US that there ARE NO
contradictions in the Bible. Simply asserting "There are none" won't cut
the mustard. We're not as gullible as you are, so it will take a lot
more than spouting random Bible slogans to convince us.

> John 3:16

Yeah - like that. John 3:16 has nothing to do with the current
discussion, so waving it around like a magic spell incantation just
makes you look like the idiot you are.

You would think after a couple of thousand years that the religious
types could translate a bible that contained no contradictions or
errors or stupid shit that just couldn't of happened. This would
probably best, but no, they decide to release year after year the same
mutually exclusive drivel with no real improvements. It is like the
directors cut of Lethal Weapon I saw. I couldn't tell the difference!

They are becoming like EA sports games. Same crap as the previous
year, just updated for trades and the latest computer hardware. The
bible doens't even do that!

I'll bet our resident Witchypoo will have some nice words for you, once you
two meet. HAH!
BTW, if you really are keen on staying around here for a while, I suggest
you try learning a little about us before making unfounded assumptions based
on your ignorant prejudices picked up from the book-o-blood.

And I'd advise you seriously to read all of the book-o-blood. Many of us
(including myself) have and we can rip you a new one if you step the wrong
way in trying to use it.

Be careful what you wish for. Quite a few of the regulars
here are VERY familiar with your book of nonsense. Some
were, in previous lives, even ministers. But if you wish to
play with fire, then ...

Don't be annoyed by the fact that many atheists know

As rude twits go, you about take the cake. This is an *atheist*
newsgroup. Intentionally posting off-topic (in this case,
antithetical) materials is a violation of the charter. This group
never *did* belong to Jesus and it never will, so you're won't be
taking "back" anything.

You Jesus-freaks have your own newsgroup where you can study the bible
to your heart's content. Use 'em, and stay out of ours.

Oh, that reminds me. Did you see where there's going to be a new event

gets the gold medal who can, to the greatest extreme, bend over

What do you mean, take it back for Jesus? This newsgroup was started
many years ago by atheists; it never belong to Jesus or any of his
spokespeople to begin with.

And I would strongly recommend against starting a bible study in this
newsgroup. Not because it violates the FAQ of the group, but because
you will very quickly lose your faith.

Silly cultist, you were never a witch. You simply played at being a
witch on the internet. You played at worshiping Satan when you had no
idea what it meant to be a Satanist, and now, you are playing at being
a born-again Christian. Praise the Lord and pass the dildos!

I suspect it will be more upsetting to him to learn that
they all have already been proven wrong, multiple times.
It's highly unlikely that he will come up with something
we haven't already seen and pulverised repeatedly.

You should read her page, it's a classic of the genre:

"At that time I would often cut on myself with razors and pull knives
out on my brother. When I lost my temper, I would throw and smash
things. I remember breaking a window, a few remote controls, my glass
vanity, a glass thermometer, my china doll, and my baby brother's
Teddy Ruxpin toy."

Whoa! Teddy Ruxpin! Talk about nihilism.

"Upon dropping out, I cut off all my hair, put every belonging I
owned in agarbage bag, and took 300 pills in an attempt to kill
myself. Instead of dying, I wound up in the psych ward."

Hint: M&Ms are not immediately fatal at that dosage.

"By the time I reached 21, I was a stripper, pothead, speed freak,
and hardcore clepto. I had also destroyed two other guys's marriages."

No, no, that's so unoriginal. Tell us more about your Teddy Ruxpin
fixation!

"At age 22 I was beaten to a bloody pulp by my ex-boyfriend and
then humiliated beyond belief in a national magazine. After the
beating first occurred, people who knew me said I deserved it
because I was stalking him and I was such a horrible person
anyway. I was in denial then, but now I can see they were right,
I did deserve it."

Ah, the smell of fundamentalist self-hatred.

"Now I'm almost 25 and even though I'm sitting in a cell, I'm at
long last happy."

I daresay a lot of other people are happy with the situation, too.

Funny, I don't see satan posting here. What I *do* see is people who
give christianity such a bad name that they could drive people into
atheism: people like you, tony, boatie, skypher, this shady lady
twittette, and others. But no satan. I wonder why that is.

Odd. All of *mine* are spinning madly. Now that I've removed the glass
covers, I'm getting a nice breeze. I think I'll put a heavy screen over
the array, just in case something cuts loose.

Well then Catholicism and most forms of Protestantism are out, as
they're pretty-much useless without a threat of burning at the stake.
It's like requiring one team to do the 100-meter dash on one foot.

Yeah. She bitches about getting humiliated in a national magazine,

They are also going to include proselytisation. Each country's team must
endorse a uniquely different sect and opposing teams will be locked up
together for 72 hours, during which time they will get little if any
sleep as they try to convert each other. Points are gained for each
member of the opposite team successfully converted.

Sweet talking, cajoling, insulting and singing are allowed, but physical

violence is forbidden. Any attempt to gain an unfair advantage by
converting the referee will result in the team's disqualification.
