**THE DEMONIAC QUALITIES**

Here is something I want to share with you all. I thought it might
help you understand yourselves a little better.
So this is Sri Krishna speaking to His friend and devotee, Arjuna, the
son of Pritha, or Kunti. It was spoken in Sanskrit 5000 years ago, but
for your benefit I have given the English translation as it is given
by Srila Prabhupada. It is from the 16th chapter og the Bhagavad Gita.
"O son of Pritha, in this world there are two kinds of created beings.
One is called divine and the other demoniac. I have already explained
to you at length the divine qualities. Now hear from Me of the
demoniac.
Those who are demoniac do not know what is to be done and what is not
to be done. Neither cleanliness nor proper behavior nor truth is found
in them.
They say that this world is unreal, with no foundation, no God in
control. They say it is produced of sex desire and has no other cause
than lust.
Following such conclusions, the demoniac, who are lost to themselves
and who have no intelligence, engage in unbeneficial, horrible works
meant to destroy the world.
Taking shelter of insatiable lust and absorbed in the conceit of pride
and false prestige, the demoniac, thus illusioned, are always sworn to
unclean work, attracted as they are by the impermanent.
They believe that to gratify the senses is the prime necessity of
human civilization. Thus until the end of life their anxiety is
immeasurable. Bound by a network of hundreds of thousands of desires
and absorbed in lust and anger, they secure money by illegal means for
sense gratification.
The demoniac person thinks: "So much wealth do I have today, and I
will gain more according to my schemes. So much is mine now, and it
will increase in the future, more and more. He is my enemy, and I have
killed him, and my other enemies will also be killed. I am the lord of
everything. I am the enjoyer. I am perfect, powerful and happy. I am
the richest man, surrounded by aristocratic relatives. There is none
so powerful and happy as I am. I shall perform sacrifices, I shal give
some charity, and thus I shall rejoice." In this way such persons are
deluded by ignorance.
Thus perplexed by various anxieties and bound by a network of
illusions, they become too strongly attached to sense enjoyment and
fall down into hell.
Self-complacent and always impudent, deluded by wealth and false
prestige, they sometimes proudly perform sacrifices in name only,
without following any rules or regulations.
Bewildered by false ego, strength, pride, lust and anger, the demons
become envious of Me, who is situated in their own bodies and in the
bodies of others, and blaspheme against the real religion.
Those who are envious and mischievous, who are the lowest among men, I
perpetually cast down into the ocean of material existence, into
various demoniac species of life.
Attaining repeated birth amongst the species of demoniac life, O son
of Kunti, such persons can never approach Me. Gradually they sink down
to the most abominable type of existence.
There are three gates leading to this hell - lust, anger and greed.
Every sane man should give these up, for they lead to the degradation
of the soul.
The man who has escaped these three gates of hell, O son of Kunti,
perform acts conducive to self-realization, and thus gradually attains
the supreme destination.
He who disregards scriptual injunctions and acts according to his own
whims attains neither perfection, nor happiness, nor the supreme
destination.
One should therefore understand what is duty and what is not duty by
the regulations of the scriptures. Knowing such rules and regulations,
one should act so that he may gradually be elevated."
We should note here that Krishna doesn't speak in sectarian terms.
These qualities can be found in any person whether he calls himself
Hindu, Christian, Muslim, atheist, theist, democrat, republican or
whatever. So it is not the external designations in terms of one's
culture, religion, race or nation that determines the qualities of a
person, but the mentality that he has aquired by association with the
three modes of material nature.
While most of us can certainly recognize at least some of these bad
qualities in ourselves, we should also understand that these are not
inherent qualities of the person or the soul, and they can very easily
be overcome by the practice of the scientific process of bhakti-yoga
or Krishna consciousness.

This is interesting. I KNOW that you don't consider me to be "divine",
nor am I demoniac as definded by the Vedas. So, I must come to one
of the following conclusions:
a) I am not a created being
b) The Vedas are wrong
c) The Vedas were translated incorrectly
d) 2 or more of the above.
The Vedic description of the "demoniac" person follows:

destroying anything (except ignorance). (note: When I say "ignorance"
I don't mean the Vedic version of the word "ignorance" which is basically

all over the planet by billions of people, and His teachings has been
studied by thoughtful and intelligent people for thousands of years.

Actually I *have* been to countries outside Australia - the US being one of my
longer excursions. So what? The American standard of living is very high and
all the Americans I met treated me so well I nearly couldn't stand it. :)

Actually I have several "conversions to reality" notches on my belt as a direct
result of things I have said and written, and many people enjoy the way I write.
Then again, lots of folks *don't* like what and how I write. Big deal. You can't

Usually they just eat them raw or barbecue them on a fire. They're actually
"witchetty grubs" which is the larvae of some sort of bug. Personally I find it
repulsive and I wouldn't eat bugs unless I was starving.
Incidently I have no aboriginal ancestory whatsoever, and no, I don't also do that.
I've seen Hare's dancing around in a group in public places, wearing orange
sheets with crazy central pony-tail hairstyles, clanging finger-cymbals, beating
