I think it's a real picture, but the human brain is exceedingly good at
finding patterns, faces especially. Is a smiley a face :-) or just three
ASCII symbols in a row? There was so much footage taken of the
billowing clouds of dust and smoke that day that I'm just surprised
people haven't seen even more "faces".
Expect the Virgin Mary to make an appearance in one of the images as well.
And anyway, how could a demon *have* a face? Doesn't really make sense
when you think about it. Do they need eyes to see? Do they need a nose
to smell? Do they need a mouth? What a load of crap.

I've seen it. It's a nice little Photoshop job. If I wanted to do something
tasteless I could have my brother (who is a graphics artist) put *my* face in
the freakin building without breaking a sweat.

Could be a hoax in its entirety, could be a legitimate picture tweaked
just a little.
Human beings are hard-wired to identify patterns (particularly face-like
patterns). It is easy to see them in random things like wood graining,
splatters, pastries, clouds, smoke, etc because *not* recognizing a face is
maladaptive.

Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.

The point of neural net architecture computers (of which our own brains are
an example) is they are extremely good at recognizing patterns. Sometimes,
they're too good. We're hard-wired to respond to seeing other faces, even
when they are just randomly assorted bits of smoke.
Incidentally, I saw the picture, and all it looked like to me was a plume of
smoke.

Just below the lower left of the smoke I can see a letter H.
Usually I just see a ducky in clouds and smoke.
I'd need to see a picture of the "real" Satan before I could judge whether the
cloud of smoke looks like him.
The photo is not a fake. It is, however, a testament to the innate human
trait of seeking out faces where they do not exist (clouds, mountains on
Mars, cinnamon buns, etc.).
CNN apparently ran a similar yet different photo. It is definitely not the
same as the AP pic, as the CNN photo shows the "face" in smoke engulfed with
flame. The AP photo only shows black smoke. Plus, CNN wouldn't comment on
theirs. My guess is someone wiseguy at CNN doctored the photo, got fired,
and CNN doesn't want to talk about it.
The AP photo is real, but you see what you want to see.
Well, since the IP in that link is a Level3.net (ISP) address, you
have to forgive me if I don't accept this as a valid source either.
And why are you imitating poynter.org on your homepage, Kenny?
I keep seeing these links, yet no one has shown a real source for this
pic. A site on AP, or CNN, or such is quite sufficient. The homepage
of little Kenny on his ISP is not. Even if it looks like some other
site.
