I have found in my work that it reflects a somewhat compulsive/obssessive
bent that goes along with a fixation usually connected to other patterns
in the chart. I don't really know much about what others have discovered
I have'nt really seen anything on it. I'm a strong believer though that
the smaller bodies (including Chiron) that don't maintain a stable and
sequencial orbit only add nuance to the main planetary configurations
that do. It reflects added determination from what I have observed. I
know thats not much but thats all I can say.

Sue,
I have also used the name Astraea for a long time, knowing very little
about her. She is mentioned very briefly in Bullfinch's Greek mythology
as a daughter of Themis who was given the constellation Virgo, but Barbara
Walker describes her as "the Libyan Goddess of holy law, symbolized by the
Scales of Judgment now enshrined in the zodiac as Libra. . . . [S]he was
characterized as a celestial Virgin dispensing the fates of men."
In searching for more information on some of the more minor asteroids I
came across a book called _Mechanics of the Future_ by Martha
Lang-Prescott. I don't agree with her interpretation of Chiron, so I
don't know how right-on her interpretations are. But for Astraea she says
this:
"Astraea firmly believes that it ain't over til it's over; it tends to
stay too long at the fair; it 'hangs in there' long past the point of
determination or stubbornness . . . . Astraea is that place where you 'go
down with the ship.' You may know, at Astraea, that there's an impending
disaster, but you tend to see things through anyway; you wait past the
embers to the ashes.
"Astraea is the 'famous final scene'; it shows how well you read the
handwriting on teh wall regarding beginnings and endings; it delineates
how you act and react when things are going 'downhill,' it describes your
attitude toward endings. It is the desire for 'closure'--the attempt to
insure that there are no 'loose ends' as activities, situations or
relationships come to a close. It is helpful to view Astraea as 'the
never-ending story.'"
I find this very interesting because my own chart has Pluto/Moon/South
Node all conjunct in Leo as the head of a t-square with Venus in Scorp
opp. Jupiter in Taurus. To say I have a hard time letting go is an
understanding - I don't let go of situations until there's absolutely no
hope left of reviving anything, and even then I leave the door open just
in case. I chose the name Astraea knowing nothing of the symbolism, but
it seems to describe very intimately my biggest lesson in life.
Best wishes,

This is great! I have also been calling myself ASTREA for years. I
was inspired by the name ASTRAEA, but I thought I would change
it by one letter to customize it, make it easier to say, and also show
I meant no disrespect to that ancient starry Goddess of law by
thinking I could imitate her directly. I have Sun, Mercury, Venus
and Pluto in Virgo, so I felt a special affinity with her. I haven't
really got in to the asteroid thing though,
