Inspiration and Responsibility

Artistic types get frequently accused of not taking responsibility for themselves. This is because of how the creative process works. Creative inspiration is something of which one is not in control, and yet the artistic types rely upon it to do their work. You are not responsible for your inspiration; it comes to you. And the artistic types, experiencing this, often generalize it on other things.

Of course this can be taken into places where it does not apply. In business and parenting you better be responsible. These different places require different approaches, and mixing them up can be a major source of error.

How to solve this problem? Use approaches where they apply. Use inspiration to do art and use responsibility to do business. And make sure that you are not using the wrong approach for each.
