The book I have which has given me my insights and information on
Chiron would probably be helpful to you. The author's name is Melanie
Reinhart, I am not entirely certain of the spelling of the last name.
Check this link for a wonderful online astrology bookstore .....
It should have the book for you, do a search based on Chiron books,
that might help you turn it up should I have not had the correct
spelling of the author's last name.

Do you also have chiron conjunct Ceres in your chart right now?
My other friend with this same transit has it in the 3rd house and he is also
moving, feels abandoned by "the world" and is having to deal with 3rd house
issues (like immediate environment stuff) every minute-both of my friends are
over working and getting lessons about how they relate to the world.

Chiron is the "Bringer of Light" also known as "The Wounded Healer".
Mythologically speaking, Chiron represents someone who can give wise counsel
but is, as yet, unable to follow his own advice, thus "wounded healer", but,
nevertheless, a dispenser of wisdom.
The Pluto transit (conjunct) of Chiron in the 2nd house is likely to:
1) put you in touch with dysfunctional attitudes relating to the supremacy
of "stuff" (material possessions) over your own freedom and spiritual
liberation because the accumulation of "stuff" has a tendency to enslave our
"inner child" and distract us from true spiritual / metaphysical evolution.
It can put you in touch with a part of yourself that is relatively "dead"
(underworld stuff) compared to the expansion of spirit that accompanies
disregarding "stuff" and focusing upon the spiritual aspects of the psyche.
2) (inversion) The Pluto transit may also provide you with a terrific idea
(Pluto / collective consciousness) regarding a method for creating wealth
(new job? , career change, shift in portfolio holdings, etc., ) if you are
out of balance with material reality (too spiritual and not enough earthly
practical know-how.
Pluto helps us by, usually, creating circumstances that we would, otherwise,
not address (flee from) of our own volition. e.g. getting fired from a job
that we dislike (2nd house issue) but are otherwise afraid of letting go of.
Mythologically, Pluto is the planet that is the most distant (farthest) from
the Sun (the soul, the spirit, the life force) and is thus the "Ruler of The
Underworld" (the subconscious) whose purpose (Pluto's) is to force us to
evolve into a higher and truer spiritual light and to restore our alignment
with the higher principles (Natural law) that run the universe.
So, the energies can and do operate in duality depending upon how we are
configured on deep inner levels. Nevertheless, you will receive a gift, even
though, at first, it may not seem like a gift. The transiting Pluto
conjunction will be the strongest during the last degree approaching an
exact conjunction and the most intense when the conjunction is exact......
then Pluto will go retrograde and, most probably, make another pass at your
Chiron during the next year or so.
It is important to remember that Pluto "does you" and how we handle the
Pluto issues determines how we come out of the other side of the transit.
If you would like a glimpse of how your Pluto transit will (most probably)
affect you then monitor the next (within a month) lunar transit
(conjunction) of your natal Chiron and also monitor the next lunar
conjunction (transiting moon) of Pluto in your 2nd house. This, in my
opinion, will provide you with some clues about how the overall transit will
affect you.
My hit is that the Pluto conjunction will "unstick" you regarding survival
issues, with the lesson always being to embrace and allow the "big plan" to
unfold rather than have the quality of life be ruled by survival (stuff)
issues. The survival issues can smother us with a form of spiritual /
metaphysical death (Pluto issues) that keeps our inner child from expressing
more fully.

If you look at your chart, you will probably find that Pluto's transit over
natal Chiron is not the only thing going on right now, but is part of a
bigger picture in which a ' transition from the experience of something
painful' can be the result. As Pluto's process deals strongly with how one
has (subconsciusly) coped (and will consciously cope) with issues on an
inner level, whatever the pain is that you have experienced, it's root can
be found in 2nd house matters that are of a Sagittarian nature...your value
of your self worth, the price you put upon yourself, or paid, for your
beliefs (and superstitions)/culture/social status/ knowledge. With Chiron in
Sag. 2nd, it's possible that Pluto could rule a Scorpio Ascendant. This
could indicate a personal involvement in power play (with Sag. superior type
figures?), in which it's been easier for you to wear a mask and pretend that
everything is o.k., whereas you have been seeing yourself as a wounded
figure caught in circumstances caused by others, that were beyond your
personal control. As Pluto transits Chiron, the wounded figure finds massive
power of will to overcome this side in himself, through which old trends die
and which acts as a healing process in itself and makes one's individual
growth (Sag.) stronger. Personal reward and advancement is experienced in
other ways.
IF Pluto has 1st house tendancies, physical health could play a role. Taking
care of one's physical well-being becomes primary. At its best, Pluto over
Chiron can bring the turning point towards incredible discoveries in and
about yourself that you did not believe possible, and with transiting
Jupiter (ruler Sag.) in Leo trine transiting Pluto, the only creative way
forward is up !
May 2003 find you in the process of successful transition :-)
Christine.

Thanks John for this tip, I had never thought of using the transiting
Moon to sense a taste of forthcoming slower planet transits .
