I am getting this partly from Barb J, who told me two days ago that the
headstone was indeed stolen from the cemetery, though I don't remember
what year she told me this happened, and it was discovered later in
someone's house, though I don't think she said whose house. I also
remember Ken Holmes telling us the original headstone had been stolen when
he took us on a tour of assassination-related locations in June of 2003,
including that cemetery and also Tippit's grave in another cemetery. I
don't remember whether or not he mentioned that it had surfaced later.
The headstone we saw was, of course, the newer one. That was a great
tour, btw. He took us to the old city jail and showed us the room where
Fritz interrogated Oswald, the hallway to the cell where he was kept, and
the garage where he was killed. He also took us to the Oak Cliff area
where we met Helen Markham's husband; she had died only a couple of years
earlier, I think.
I'm going to try to get Barb's thoughts on the first article in this
thread, and I'll share them here if she gives me permission.
