~ A Visit from a Large Woodpecker....

This rather large Woodpecker visited our feeders this morning. First he
tried to land on the lip of a sunflower feeder. Failing at that, he next
attempted to land on the suet feeder. It was a tad too small to comfortably
let him perch and feed. Thankfully, he solved the feeding problem, by
sitting in the hanging feeder below and having a go at the suet cake. If you
look closely, you can see the suet crumbs on his bill. We're trying to
identify what woodpecker this is with limited success. It looks kind of like
the Northern Three Toed, but it doesn't belong in this area, Central North
Carolina. Any ideas?
