Journey to the West

series. This is about 2 - 3 years old and stars Dicky Cheung Wai-kin as
the Monkey King. Anyhow, I was just wondering if anyone out there new
the names of some of the other characters, in particular, The Monk and
Piggy. Any help with a cast list would be great. I am having no luck
finding this info anywhere else on the net, most annoying.

priest whom the disciples accompany to go seek the scriptures. Gong Wah was
also in another TVB series called Lady Flower Fist which is pretty funny.
Lai Yiu Cheung plays Piggy who have been in many tvb series one that I
recently watched which was very good was A Road and A Will - about a
hongkongnese in China and Lai plays the hurn Hai Lo - man from the village.

i assume you mean Monk Sha Wujing and not Tang Sanzhang
(aka Xuanzhang). piggy is Zhu Bajie.
these names are in Mandarin, which may not be all that
helpful for the Cantonese TV production.

OOPs, forgot to make sure that I correctly identified who I was asking
about. Yes, Monk Sha Wujing is the character who's actor I would like to
know the name of.

tvb series on Journey to the West. Let's see last update I made was:
Gong Wah plays Tong Sam Cong the priest in search of the scriptures
Dicky Cheng is Seung Mmm Hong - the monkey king
Lai Yiu Cheung is Piggy (Gee Pak Guy)
Mark Chong Ching is Sandy(Sar Jen)
Now I am phonetically spelling their names the way I would pronounce them in
Cantonese. I don't which dialect you understand or speak. They are going to do
Journey to the West part 2 but Dicky won't be in it this time, the guy who is
going to play monkey king is the same guy who plays Duen Yu in Teen Lung Pak Bo
or Semi-Devils Demi0gods something like that - tvb series with Felix Wong. The
name escpaes me but I can find out if u want.
How much of the journey to the west series have u seen?

Thanks Sue, now I know where I have seen Lai Yiu Cheung before, and that
was in the film, Killing me Tenderly, with Leon Lai and Sammi Cheng. He
played the crazed fan who was out to harm Sammi. I kept looking at him
thinking he looked really familiar, but none of the databases for HK
films does a very comprehensive job on credits for the TVB series.

I don't even think I have met Sandy yet, I am only on episode 7. This
series is kind of wild, but very fun. I love Dicky, so that is why I
decided to give the series a try, plus I really liked Stephen Chow's
Chinese Oddyssey, which made me want to see more of the story. I kind of
switch back and forth between Cantonese and Mandarin, because I am
studying Mandarin, but Cantonese offers the actors real voices. So, the
first 5 tapes I am watching now are in Cantonese, but I will be
switching to Mandarin for the rest of the series so that I can
understand more of the show. I will let you know what I think of the
rest of the series in a week or two when I have seen more of it.
