Please peer review my first art. As a background I was seeking help in
repacing a chip on a computer I own. The following is my best effort
rendering of the schematic from the tech reference for the chip in
question.

For some reason some of this is multicolored and I don't know why. I
hope it's not ruined after the post.

A snippet of the original.

Short answer: you did good.

Longer answer, it could be better. Spacing things out a bit more would
probably help. Some corners could be nice looking. Consider this tweek:

Not ruined.

very sharp lines meeting at right angles is basically easiest art subject

That'll be your newsreader thinking that lines starting with "|" are
quoted text. There may be a setting to temporarily disable it, but
either way it won't change what other people see in your posts.

I always use "_" for horizontal lines meeting with "|", though that
might not always be for the best. The suggeestion to use "`" with "-"
is better, but doing it that way would confuse me too much (this
stuff is at the frail edge of my pathetic drawing abilities).

I would have done this sort of thing for the bus, without any real
attempt at asthetics:

Yeah I'm using emacs|gnus so I'll have to dig out the setting. Thx. It's
annoying for messaging, and fine while coding.

Okay I'll give it a shot.

How does it look with the suggested changes? I added length of the PCB
tracks, changed the horizontal lines to underscores, added the bracket,
changed the solder points to a period instead of a lowercase 'o.'
Removed the + signs to denote cross tracks on the PCB.

This is morphing into a column in an eMag that I'm writing on the
subject of the Tandy TRS-80 Model 100. It's important that I improve my
ascii art skills. I have to keep the drawings sized so they'll fit on a
80x25 screen.

I somehow got it into my mind that the bus bars were all shorted
together, this is what I meant (and what you interpreted correctly
anyway):

The wiring to the chip could be a bit clearer. You left a lot out
from the schematic too, I started adding some of it.

I used box-style resistors bacause I haven't had to figure out the
best ways to do American zig-zag resistors myself - I'll leave that
for you to figure out, if zig-zags are preferred.

There is software specifically for drawing ASCII-art schematics. I
Can't remember the name, (might be more than one program, probably
for Windows or DOS). That might be handy if you're doing a lot of it.
