hi ... thanks for the info
the bottom one is readable if i set firefox to disallow pages to set
their own fonts ... the top one is "smushed" tho'
i have updated the FAQ to reflect this as follows:
[part of Q.5 : which font use?]
Using Google-Groups from a web-browser => F O R G E T I T!
Google-Groups forces users to use a browser-app to view postings
but then serves-up the posts as an 'html-blob' having pre-processed
the messages using a library called 'XML XSLT' <xsl:strip-space>
which changes all white-space content.
A whitespace character can be any of: space character, tab,
carriage return, new line, vertical tab, form feed.
Carriage return characters are replaced with <br> elements.
All mulitple space characters are compressed to one space so all
preformatted text is C O M P L E T E L Y T R A S H E D !
This renders Google-Groups useless for ascii-art so to be safe
boycot Google-Groups.
[part end]
however ... i still post the FAQ thru' them due to its size at 55k
a bit of a heavy-weight
i'm considering revising or removing Q.20 m$.outlook-express settings
since it is now depreciated (dead) product
