POETS OF THE WEEK
~ This week's featured poets are: BURGESS NEEDLE and TRISHA FREEMAN
BURGESS NEEDLE (Tucson, Arizona) worked at a wide range of jobs
[machinist in an American Can Plant, manufacturing picture frames,
making submarine sandwiches, short order cook, rod man on a survey
team and producing plastic molds for Avon products] before finally
getting his B.A. from the University of Masachusetts. He taught
English for two years in a small, Thai village for the Peace Corps
and fell in love with the Thai people and their culture. He later
worked as a school librarian in Tucson. His poetry has appeared in
numerous print and on-line journals, including: The Hiss Quarterly,
Raving Dove, Concho River Review, Iodine, Brittle Star (UK) and
Blackbox Manifold (UK). Diminuendo Press has just published his
poetry collection: EVERY CROW IN THE BLUE SKY.
TRISHA FREEMAN (Portland, Oregon) is endlessly fascinated with how
information, articles, books, works of art, find people; much in the
same way that people find one another. She lives her life unafraid of
dropping into the black abyss of pain and suffering and is equally
excited at the thought of floating on a cloud. Documenting these
moments, these feelings, are her passion. She was born, raised, and
continues to reside in Portland. If you ever visit this beautiful
small city, she is the girl with the smile on her face.
