Thanks for giving it more prominence on the group, Zod.

I was really happy to have found it. It was a new Keats poem to me, not only one that I'd never read before, but one that I'd never seen in an anthology or in any books of his poems. (One of the online posts of it I'd read was from an academic, which convinced me it was really Keats.

It's not among his greatest poems. It's a perfect look into the mind of a lovestruck guy in his early 20s, but I doubt Keats was using a lovestruck guy as a speaker -- I think he was a lovestruck guy, and wrote it about himself.

What made the biggest impression on me was the couplet I quoted in the OP. That struck me as not only an original image, but a timeless one that would have worked just as well in a contemporary poem.

I also found a rather trippy video of it being read, which was a bonus. I'd urge you to take a look at it, if you haven't yet.

Agreed, and I like the mix of "old school" and "modern" poets on the blog.

I'm trying to get at least one modern and/or contemporary poem on each month. Not always easy to find, alas, but it's been working out so far.

Excellent work keeping so many poets from the darkness of obscurity...!
