Van Gogh's Monolog
(The speech given by him at a reception on a great auction)

You captured my life.
You tortured my mind.
You turned my life into a shadow free trade zone.
How many of you made fortune tacitly while I was alive?
How many of you made fortune openly after you sent me to Moon?
You ground my life into sand and dust.
You squeezed my flesh and soul as a grape harvest onto cloths.
You left it to be matured as a wine or stock.
Do you see beauty there?
Do you see sunflowers there?
No, there are my ruined nerves, my dried blood and raped heart.
Do you still see beauty there?
Are you sadists? Are you hopelessly brainwashed? Are you necrophiliac?
Are you afraid to look ignorant?
That was my life.
God created that to be me.
It was meant to be spent by my own will.
You think I was mad?
You think I cut my ear for that wrenched girl?
No, I knew that you wanted sacrifice from me.
I did that for you.
To show my humiliation.
To earn my freedom.
Naïve was I!
You had a plan for alchemy.
You ground my life into sand and dust to turn it into gold for you.
What is the value of that cloth?
It doesn't worth sixpence.
What was the value of my life?
Priceless.
You already had calculated all your profits then for centuries to come.
You could give me some honorarium while I was here to live up my live in
grace, as you did it later with Dali.
Or you could let me live my life as a happily unknown peasant.
I am here now. I announce a new auction.
I am trading my name and glory for centuries for a simple life.
Who is thirsty for eternity?
I am thirsty for life.
I was foolish myself, excited by the fame of great artists.
But time hides the tortures and shapes the legend with vanity.
I am asking you, tear to pieces all that cloths.
Keep only in a corner of memory all old graves.
And glorify life.
The greatest gift of God.
