Here's a poem I might consider, a "lost" poem from 1999 just discovered today:

> Stone, Stone
> by Will Dockery
>
> Walking down Macon Road with Lady Elaine,
> she's wearing my aged black denim jacket,
> we're arguing about the moon.
> In my teal grean hat and fag bag, pacing back & forth,
> looking at the purple pansies.

> Stone, Stone is copyright 1999 by Will Dockery

https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.poems/VoeZLoQmpPE/NAXkH3YZJ_cJ

A poem of mine from nearly twenty years ago, could use some revision, but basically a sound work, and might make an interesting addition to this volume, or perhaps a future collection if not this one.

A couple of somewhat surprising choices there, George, one I want to add to
my list is "Rag-Picker Joe"

Check out "Rag-Picker Joe" / Will Dockery & Henry Conley
https://www.reverbnation.com/willdockery/song/26082646-rag-picker-joe--will-dockery-henry?0

Will Dockery - Vocals
Henry Conley - Guitar
Doug Conley - Bass & Clarinet
John Phillips - Drums

I don't have the lyrics handy but you probably remember it.

And although you have no sound, I know you have the CD this track comes from
in your collection.

Good choice, original version of course, rather than the Country music song
I adapted it into.

:)

Frayed Page Soaked in Rain
Ganesha Girl on Rankin
> Honeytrip Sestina

This one can stand a bit of a buff job and some detailing but is indeed road
worthy.

> Karma Bombs

Minimal work, mostly on the line breaks.

> Looked All Over

Same here, just want to shoot it through my currently weary and wiser
vision.

Nightmare Tears
Saint Augustine Blues #6
Sky Song

> Silver Glassy Rain

Same with the others, just a retype and the kinks will get mellowed down...

OK; you've just given me an idea. Here's a 5-line poem, and you've also written some haiku; probably other short things.

I was thinking it would be best to start every poem at the top of a page. (except the parts of "WD," but that's because they're parts. That may result in a number of second pages with little or no text on them. I suggest keeping a file of these short poems (a different kind of "shortlist") to use on those mostly-blank pages - as filler, in a way, but also as bonus poems.

This is a good basic idea, George, rather than have a lot of wasted blank space.

Bears discussion.

Have you ever seen a Jim Senetto book?

I do hope he finds some way to get all the misused apostrophes and spelling mistakes out of the "finished" version of his poetry.

If Jim put half the energy into correcting his poetry as he does stalking and attacking me, he might have something.

I'm just thinking that the original "Combat Zone" from 1997 might make a good addition, again, with a slight re-write, mainly line placement. Here's a version set to music, which is very different from the original poem, which was a decade old by the time of this "Word Jazz" adaptation:

When I was looking for poems, for my selection, there were several I left off simply because I couldn't find text, just video links. "The Ride" is one; "Silver Blazing Sun" and "Greybeard Cavalier" were two others.

I mention them because, while I was mostly giving song lyrics a pass, I don't expect you to. As I see it, your selection will be the 'heart and soul' of the book, so please pick the ones you like the best regardless of source.

I'm keeping a list of your suggestions, and I've added "The Ride" to it.

"The Ride" was two poems combined another "Mini Epic", I suppose... "Combat Zone" from 1997 and "Skirt of Printed Sunflowers" from around 2001, or maybe 2002 written about the events of 2001.

OK; well, let's count those parts as one pick, with the combined years at the bottom, as with "WD" - I'll make a note of that.

I've seen both those titles, but I don't recall seeing the words.

I'm not sure about using both poems, but Liszt them for now under the newest title, "The Ride (Combat Zone)", which is what the two poems became after being set to music in 2006.

Oh, I see; "Skirt" is incorporated in the newer poem. That' all we need, then.

George, I'd forgotten you have no sound, so you couldn't hear the video.

Yes, the verses use "Combat Zone" and the chorus break uses "Skirt of Printed Sunflowers".

I may not ever wrote them down in that form, just recited the two with the band jamming jazz.

I'd leave "Greybeard Cavalier" off, as it was a full collaboration with P.D. Wilson, Brian Fowler and myself, including plenty of lyrics by those two.

"Silver Blazing Sun"... there are probably many others more worthy of this set, to be honest.

Here is the main verse text for "The Ride", which is part of the story of another "She Said" type girl, named Raine. While the poem itself is good, I'll want to do the retype/revision on it, polish the line breaks and so on before publication:

The chorus part is from "Skirt of Printed Sunflowers", which also needs some minor repair work, although I haven't looked for it in the vaults yet.

Yes, I must admit that it isn't hard to like writing such as this, is it?

Okay, at first it seemed like you were making what we call on Usenet a "gay
lame".

Reposting this on the original thread as well, to keep the record straight

Well, this doesn't "keep the record straight at all". Psychodragon could not have meant the above, since he wasn't even talking to you, as your quote makes clear.

I'm afraid that, again, "gay lame" is the best explanation.

I'll tell you that answer myself, Jim, since simple common sense is that I ,
or nobody else should be boxing you, a 71 year old man with a history of
seizures and strokes already.

That's just not going to happen, old man... but it can live on in your

Why are you so desperately trying to turn a sarcastic comment about your liking to have your ego stroked into a "gay lame"?

I'm starting to wonder if you're secretly harboring some ... feelings ... for Mr. Phillips, and are hoping that if you raise enough fuss about it that he'll get the hint.

Really, Will ... this is odd behavior, even for you.

There's no joke. You were building on one of Dunce's troll posts in an attempt to get everyone accusing one other of pedophilia again.

Apparently you need to deflect the attention away from Jim's boxing challenge (or from charges that you're an unemployed hillbilly living off your brother's SSI checks, etc).

You've got about 100 new/reopened threads here today that all seem calculated to run this group into the ground. Stop it. Just stop it.

Great idea, Will, to file all these notes onto their own thread.

Ganesha Girl on Rankin
Honeytrip Sestina

Karma Bombs
Looked All Over
Nightmare Tears
Saint Augustine Blues #6
Sky Song

Silver Glassy Rain
Smoke Beast Growing
Stoneman the Cat
Tired of Waiting
To the Sea Angel

Truckstop Woman
Twilight Girl
Watermelon Moon

No, I haven't been involved in violence in over a decade, and I sure will not fight a 71 year old man with a history of serious health problems like Jim Senetto has.

Again, Jim admitted it was just s fantasy he has, anyway, dort of like Corey and the bugly event, I reckon.

Now would YOU kindly stop trolling me about it, Pen?
