I picked my nose with
determination as the phone
rang (one ringie dingie)
as I waited, my mind
floated out to sea on
a mattress stuffed with
spaghetti (two ringie dingies)
and fish floated in the air
mouths gasping for breath
just a little further and I’ll
get that crunchy annoyance
(three ringie dingies)
I wait for the sound of the
answering machine, surely you
would have picked up by now
if you weren’t ignoring me or
worse yet really not at home
(four ringie dingies)
oh shit, I hang up - cos
all I really wanted to say
was - never mind it's too
cliché anyway

My navel is bright yellow

My navel is bright yellow
and I ask, how can this be?
I bathe it every second day
in orange scented tea.
I take it every where I go
I never make it walk
and at night I talk to it
and play it songs by Bjork.
It always gets to watch TV
especially horror flicks
where it sits open mouthed
and catches saltine chips.
It never watches talkshows
It's bored by Jeopardy
and at night it falls asleep
snuggled into me.

Not too cliche but too much. I /think/ you could cut this in half
(even rhyme it) by picking your words. There being no real
conclusion, you gotta do /something/, like not-saying the
obviously-rhyming nasty-word (the /trick/ is cliche, but the pome
it's in doesn't hafta be).
As is, only "sorta funny."

The Modern Things
by Bjork

All the modern things
like cars and such
have always existed

they've just been waiting in a mountain
for the right moment

listening to the irritating noises
of dinosaurs and people
dabbling outside

all the modern things
have always existed
they've just been waiting

to come out
and multiply
and take over

it's their turn now

Bindi
listening for the dabble
of dinosaurs
