The initial organizational meetings of the International
Association of Pastel Societies, were held in September
1994 at the National Arts Club in New York City. The goals
of the organization are: to unite pastel organizations from
all over the world, promote the use of the pastel, assist new
pastel groups, and to educate the public and the art community
on the merits and beauty of the medium.

Membership to the International Association of Pastel
Societies is open to pastel societies only. Individual artists
are not eligible to hold membership, but if they belong to
any of the the member societies they will have the benefit
of membership available through their society. In addition
to the Pastel Society of America and numerous other
societies in the U. S., organizations in England, Australia
and China have expressed interest in participating.
Conventions will be scheduled every other year. The first
international convention of pastel societies will be held in
Denver, Colorado on July 14, 15, 16, 1995. The location of
the 1997 convention is to be determined. The convention
is for all pastel artists ALL pastel artists to attend. They
do not have to belong to a pastel society to be eligible.
REPEAT: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF A
PASTEL ORGANIZATION TO ATTEND.
Numerous art suppliers will man display booths and many
events are planned for the first convention, including: A
prominent Denver art gallery will host an international,
juried exhibition and sale of pastel paintings. The
opening reception for the show will be Friday July 14, 1995.
The co-sponsor, The Denver Arts Student's League will
provide studio space for a pastel portrait/floral workshop
conducted by Mr. Leslie DeMille, PSA. A series of
seminars designed to assist the pastel artist will include
a panel discussion with Stephen Doherty, Editor in chief of
American Artist Magazine who will critique pastel art
work in 35mm, slide form. Pastel demonstrations by
Carole Katchen, PSA and Ramon Kelly are scheduled
on Saturday. Sunday will see a panel discussion by
some of the presidents of the various pastel societies.

I SECOND THAT EMOTION, especially since it is common knowledge in the gay
and lesbian community that scores of gifted artists down through the ages
were/are homosexual.
