Sat., May 10, 6-8 p.m. John Cleary Gallery "Select Portraits," including Larry Colwell's 1952 take
on Dorothea Lange. Thru June 4.
Sat., May 10, 6-8 p.m. Lawing "Fracturing the Gaze," 21 artists explore the female image via
painting, photography and video. Thru June 21.
Wed., May 14, 6 p.m. The Menil Collection Writers in the Schools hosts its Young Artists Exhibit.
Opening reception, Also, "Braque: The Late Works." .
CAM Community Open House Mayor Bob and wife Elyse will cut the ribbon on the new and improved
Contemporary Arts Museum, welcoming the facility back after a four-month, $2 million facelift. One
improvement is that Starbucks now sells coffee in the Education Resource Room. The exhibitions for
this
grand shindig are "Finders/Keepers" upstairs and "Yasumasa Morimura: Actor/Actresses" in the three
times larger Perspectives gallery downstairs. The Art Guys and the Balloon King will create art on
the spot, and the HSPVA Jazz Ensemble will provide mood music. Noon-5 p.m.

Art Guys logo competition Got a logo idea for the Art Guys? The Houston-based collaborative team of
Michael Galbreth and Jack Massing is collecting entries, and about the only rule is that if the
words "Art Guys" appears in the logo, it must, oddly enough, be spelled just that way. The top prize
is 101 Texas Lotto Quick Picks, the pride of seeing your logo on their stuff and frequent personal
updates on the logo's use; the last place finishers will get some Velcro and frequent personal
updates on the winning logo's use. The contest is open to everyone, except Art Guys staff and family
and "anyone inside the beltway of Washington, D.C." Send entries by mail to the Art Guys World
