How to make cheap painting materials:

(Oil painting)
Drying oil + mud = paint.
You can easily make a wonderful variety of colors from different kinds
of mud/dirt/crumbled sandstone. Drying oils like safflower or walnut oils
are really cheap in grocery stores, and edible too. Grind ingredients
together (dirt = free, oil = cheap)

Canvas:
Any material that may be sealed from the oil with glue or gesso (glue
+ white dirt (chalk) = gesso) Lots of cheap scraps can be found at
secondhand stores, or tailors or fabric stores. (free)

Brushes: fingers, elbows, knees, rags, hair. (free)

Library: free books! Free ideas! Lotsa great concepts
Nature: Even more great concepts.
You (artist): motivation to create (no cost)
