Shipping Canvas Artwork

I'm gearing up to post a dozen or so works on a site for sale and have
everything in place except for my shipping requirements.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on shipping artwork successfully
(US orders only) where an effective balance is struck between cost of
materials and overall safety of the work.

The canvases are either 24x36 or 16x20 pre-stretched in acrylic mediums.

- Should the canvas be covered with some material? I would assume no plastic
in case some moisture got in there.

- Any reliable online sources for ordering pre-made boxes for this sort of
thing?

- Success or Horror when it comes to the local MailBoxes, ETC with this
stuff?
