An impressionist oil painting by F.M. O'Brien has been in my family since my
grand-mother purchased it from the painter just before the turn of the
century in Italy or France. I believe he is an artist of some repute as
20-years or so ago a doctoral student visited my home to view the painting
as part of the research he was doing on O'Brien who was the sole subject of
his thesis.

I would like to find some biographical information regarding O'Brien and his
career, as well as try to determine a valuation range of his paintings. I
have been totally unable to find any reference to the artist through
internet and public library searches.
Can anyone suggest any reference source (website, book(s), person) who may
be able to help me with this quest. Many thanks. I am not interested in
selling the painting.
