Brian,
I'm not sure what your intentions are. Does this designer need to be in
the Chicago Area? Does this designer need to be registered? (not for
residential, I'm not sure about for commercial.) I am currently doing
freelance design for people in Texas as well as California. I'm fresh
out of Architecture School as of last May 97, so my hourly rate is still
reasonable, and I haven't had any complaints about my design aptitude. I
would like to hear more about what you had in mind and maybe show you
some of my work. I have been doing design/build for myself since I
graduated and would love to get some more work. There are so many
designers in Austin that word of mouth always seems to run out before
the jobs get to me. Anyway just curious. Email me if you might be at all
