Does any one have any good ideas for target back stops, and target butts,
the Saunders grass matts are nice, just a bit costly.
Any one got some new and better ways of doing it out there ???

Have you tried those plastic fiber bags?

Old carpet, cardboard, old fabrics/apparel, newspaper - all would work
if you use enough. Depends how messy you want range to look.

Two or three layers of old carpet do the job for me. I put them to hang,
half inch from one to another.

tried them bag target once, after a while you shoot holes in them
Using a layer target now, seems ok, bit small, but now i have neighbors on
that side, so I have to relocate target range now.

I have a dump truck load of sand as a back stop. I do use my range for
both archery and my rifles so having a good back stop was very
important. If I miss my soft archery target, the sand berm will stop the
arrow so I don't have to try and figure out where the heck it got off to
anymore. I have a five acre lot, though. This may not be the answer for
a smaller yard. Here in Florida, I can get a ten wheel dump truck load
for around $150.00.
