I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on the new Accu rest Bow that
has just been introduced.

It shoots a 4.00" arrow at 295 feet per sec at 30" draw 70 lbs. I'm not
sure how to explain how it works, but in my opinion it makes the bow
into a cross bow of sorts. It has a built in quiver that pulls down. As
it does it pulls the string with it, the handle become is a automatic
release. Draw lengths reported are from 261/2 to 32 inches.

The arrows weight form 480 (at 4" long) grains and up. The
manufacturer's web page url is www.accurest.com The claim is that the
arrow no long paradoxs.

I can't comment on the AccuRest bow but I have been using an Accurest add on
rest system on a Browning Boss Mantis for the last 3 seasons for hunting
whitetail. The AccuRest system does work as advertised. I am using 21"
2219s, with 100 grain broadheads, with my bow set at 31" draw length and 84
lbs draw weight. The arrows come out of the rest like they are on a string,
with no oscillation at all. There are no adjustments to worry about with
the rest and the design of the AccuRest virtually eliminates any problems
with torque from the bow hand. The extra stability adds about 10-12 yards
to the effective range that you can shoot accurately.

The Accurest does not make the bow like a crossbow. It does not lock the
bow at full draw. It is basically an enclosed launcher. Since the arrow
slides between two molded Delrin guides that run the full length of the rest
tube, the AccuRest eliminates arrow oscillation from a poor release and
allows you to use arrows that would normally be under-splined for your draw
weight. I have never hunted with the 4" arrows, since they are illegal to
use in Illinois, but I was given a couple of them when I purchase the
AccuRest and did shot them while practicing. They also work as advertised
and exhibited tremendous penetration when shot into foam.

The AccuRest is noisy on release and their is really no way to quiet it.
However, I have now taken all 4 deer that I have shot at in the last 3
seasons, at ranges of 12-45 yards, and have never had one jump the string.
However, some people may be uncomfortable with the noise level of the
AccuRest.

I had test shot the Accu Rest system while it was being developed. At the
time it was an add on kit that I used with my Jennings Carbon XLRS. I was
shooting 16" arrows out of it at competitions and it shot extremely
accurately. The system was noisy and I did have problems with the cable
slides jumping off the track and string wear. They are not selling kits
anymore as far as I understand just complete bow sets. I have been told
that this has solved the problems. I was never able to hunt with it due to
the fact that Illinois is one of the few states that have a minimum arrow
length regulation for hunting. It is not like a crossbow. You must hold
back the weight. The track acts like an overdraw/guard and also keeps
longer arrows from flexing. Overall, I think that it is a good shooting
system. Just check your states regulations for minimum arrow length
requirements.

Peter, I have been using an add on AccuRest on a Browning Boss Mantis for
hunting in Illinois for the last 3 seasons. Illinois has a 20" minimum
arrow length for whitetail so I use a 21" 2219 arrow with Rocky Mountain
Gator broadheads. I agree that the AccuRest is very accurate but also
noisy. If one likes a very quiet bow, they are not going to be happy with
the AccuRest. However, I have taken several deer with my setup and the
noise has not been a factor. I haven't had any problems with the slides
jumping the track but I use Triflon lubricant on the track regularly, which
I believe solves this problem. I have noticed some extra wear on the
serving where it goes through the slot in the AccuRest, but regular waxing
seems to keep the wear minimal.

Overall, I have been very happy with the AccuRest. Bad releases and bow
hand torque are virtually eliminated. There is nothing to adjust on the
rest and the AccuRest has added about 12 yards to my effective range.
Initially, I was concerned that the low profile molded vanes that you must
use would not be sufficient to stabilize an arrow with a broadhead but using
the Gator mechanical heads, which are also very low profile, this has not
been a problem.

In your case, your opinion is about as good as your spelling and grammar.
In short, your opinion is junk. You have obviously never had any personal
experience with the product in question, yet you claim you can tell that
it's junk, by looking at the pictures and reading the text on the web site.
With this amazing power of psychic perception that you have, you must have
gotten very wealthy in the stock market.

Why not just learn how to shoot a regular compound bow. There are more
models to choose from and much better quality. If you don't want to be an
archer to bowhunt, then maybe you should buy yourself a gun!
