Hi,

I bought a Petron 50", 20 lb bow, 2 arrows, bracer and tab set for my son.
He was given it for his birthday today. With it I also bought an extra set
of 6 arrows to go with the 2 arrows in the set. I got them out an found they
are all nocked wrong. Or is it me? With the arrow nocked on the bow the odd
fletch is pointing upward! Is this correct? I have only shot recurve and
this is a flat bow, are they different?

Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me - I'm sure the manufacture can't be
wrong,

Peter

You are correct.
the nock groove should be at 90 degrees to the cock fletching, so when on
the string it is at 90 degrees to bow ie facing away from bow handle.

Are the nocks glued or just friction fit?, you can rotate them if in wrong
position - else its back to the supplier!

The nocks have a shroud over the end of the arrow I tried to rotate them by
hand with a small pair of pliers and by heating with boiling water but to
not avail. I think they are well and truly stuck on!! Any other suggestion
as to how to rotate them - I could try a bigger pair of pliers? Should I
try and pull them off and then refit them?

The arrows were set up for compound bow being shot with a release, where the
cock feather is either up or down depending on the arrow rest. I would suggest
removing the nocks and replacing them. Arrow nocks are inexpensive.

Be careful with the pliers. I believe that the arrows have a tapered end on them
that matches a tapered hole in the nock. You can easily crush the tapered end of
the arrow (I speak from experience). Get some glue when you buy the nocks.
