Hey you all,
I just reciently bought a 1994 Xi Flatliner and I think it's
great.last week I bought a overdraw for it. With 26 inch, 2315 arrows, @
65 lbs, I can crank arrows out at 253 FPS! With 26 inch, 2213 arrows I'm
blasting them out at 270 FPS! I don't know about you, I think thats really
fast. The specs. on my my bow are : 65 to 80 lbs, 28 1/2 inch draw with 26
inch 2315 arrows, predator grey camoflage Proline t-pin sight,
Pro-formance 2 inch overdraw, and TM hunter rest. I am interested to see
if there is anyone else out there that shoots a Xi Flatliner or a Xi bow.
If not, is there anybody out there that just wants to talk about bows?

Sincerely,

James Barton

James, I don't shoot a Xi but am always willing to talk bows. I did
consider Xi for my next bow until I saw one at a 3-D shoot. Apparently the
one I saw only had a 12 strand string and the guy shooting nocked an arrow
that had a cracked nock. When he released, the bow dry-fired and exploded.
He said that the it had never been dry-fired before. I hope you have
better luck than that guy.
I shoot a Mathews SoloCam Vapor @ 66#. Beman Diva C23's. ProDoodle rest
by Bodoodle, PSE Crosshair sight, fingers. My arrows are 30 in. and weigh
in @ 337 grains. They leave the bow @ 295 ( 298 if I dig into the limbs.)
When I shot aluminum shafts, I was shooting 31in. 2514 546gr. @ 246.
If raw speed turns you on, ask your local dealer about the new Oregon Black
Knight. I had to see this to believe it. This bow smokes a 340 grain
arrow at an incredible 325 fps at 30 inch draw, set on only 62 pounds. The
bow is incrediblely smooth and quiet. But you pay for speed. The dealer
here offers this bow with competition finish for about $900 with a 20 year
warrenty.
The question now seems to be "How fast do you want to go?". Watch for the
IBO to do the same thing ASA has done. Within the next 3 years there will
be a speed limit of 285-300 fps. Bows just keep getting better.

Just a few random ramblings. Good Luck with your Xi. Keep shooting.

Dear Saturn,
Hey, Thanx for replying! I bought my bow at Dick's Sporting goods in
Big Flats, NY. But, I strongly recommend that you go to an actual bow
dealer. (Where do you live?) The bow cost around $340. Is this a
problem? If so I can set you up with something else. The Proline sight
cost $50, but there are many diferent sights out there. A TM hunter rest
costs about $15. An Equalizer stablilizer cost around $30. The
Pro-formance overdraw came in at around $30. If you go out and buy all
this stuff at the same time, we're talking about a ball park figure around
$470! Not including arrows at $50 a dozen and a Cobra hand release at
$30, putting you over $500. The thing of it is, I did not go out and buy
all this equipment at the same time! I started with just the bare
essentials, and worked my way up. (really good idea)
About the bow. It is a great, smooth shooting, quiet, fast, cam bow.
It is a great bow for people who like alot of speed, but little noise. I
don't recommend this bow for the beginners. For beginners, I recommend a
bow made by Golden Eagle. Either the Golden Eagle Hawk or Predator. I
started out on a Predator. If you shoot with fingers, I highly recommend
either one of the Golden Eagle bows. My bow is strictly for release
shooters. The Xi bow company is just starting to make a come back. 2
years ago, Xi came out with a whole new line of bows. They had some minor
problems to begin with, but they are getting the bugs worked out. The
only problem I have found with them is the string they use. Xi uses
Streamline string, and it really sucks. I recommend getting the same
length Fastflight String. Well, hope I helped you out! If you any more
questions, just give me a call.

Your cool archery
friend,
James

I wouldn't call it unshootable. The dealer I mentioned is shooting about
the same scores indoor that he shoots with a Mathews Vapor and a High
Country Supreme ( 280's ). I have shot it myself and I was amazed at how
smooth it actually was, and I'm a fingers shooter. FWIW.

Jeez! Wow! I've been absent from the sport for oh, 3 years or so, but
peek in here every now and then rather than do something *useful* with my
life. Back when I shot, I was tickled to death that my Martin Cougar
Speed Flight shot 26" 2114's (don't know the weight, sorry) @ 265 fps (at 68
#). Has Compound bow technology really jumped ahead that quickly?

I loved shooting, but I'm in college now and have all the usual problems
accociated with it....(no money for arrows, equipment...and even less
time to shoot...assuming there were a place for me to shoot around here)...
Maybe I should pick up a magazine and catch up on things...
