Site Older Than the Pyramids Discovered on North Sea Island

The discovery of an ancient site in the North Sea on the
British island of Orkney has provided archaeologists with
a remarkable “feat of engineering” that predates the
renowned pyramids of Egypt by nearly a thousand years.

This Neolithic site not only showcases advanced architectural
techniques for its time but also offers insights into the
people who constructed it due to the presence of fourteen
skeletons.

The tomb, which once stood as a massive structure within
the landscape, featured highly impressive stonework inside.

. . .

Over the years, I've concluded that there was
a LOT of sophisticated stuff going on LONG
LONG back, as the ice age was still kinda
happening.

The works at Gobekli Tepe and neighboring, larger,
maybe older, Karahan Tepe show that pre-ag
neolithics were not mindless, pointless, brutes.
Both of those megalithic sites date to roughly
10,000-BCE. They point to a large, organized,
smart, civ.

No, they didn't have video games ... sci/tech
is HARD and takes a LONG time ... but they'd
clearly grasped a lot of the basics by then.
Akkadia, Sumer, Egypt - those came much later.

A logical place to put cities is near the
seashore, preferably near where a river
comes out. Alas as the ice-age ended the
big ice-dams would have burst and sent HUGE
quantities of water downslope. In some places
it WOULD have seemed like a "world flood" and
fer-sure sea levels rose by 200-300 feet.

Any cities near the ocean are now WAY underwater
and will be DIFFICULT to find. Major climate
shifting would have scattered most other civs
and altered landscape enough to also make them
difficult to find.

This site on Orkney - far north - shows that
people with those "basics" were well-distributed
way back when. We're missing, overlooking, an
entire - and apparently large - neolithic civ.
Stuff WAS going on, even when it wasn't SUPPOSED
to be.
