Bongiorno!
You must have explored Dejanews, because those discussions
are dead here, in sci.archy. The orthodox faction here
shies away from the ramp problem, and as well from several
other topics of Egyptian technology like el Diablo shies
the Vatican waterpipes (aqua sancta). Let's just mention
the "granite cores, and vases" in passing. Of course,
the orthod-oxes here fumble those passes for the simple
reason that one would really need technology to duplicate
the same achievements today.
I suppose that is why the question of steel derricks, etc,
is paramount on your mind. Well, I must disappoint you.
You cannot destroy iron, or steel. It will oxydize, but
then the oxydes would remain buried in large lumps, which
would still indicate the ancient steelmaking reliably.
Hence, such devices must have been truly rare, and most
likely controlled by a tiny group of priest-initiates/inheritors
of Atlantean technology - representing the very tip of the
pyramidal Egyptian society.
In order to see convincing examples of ancient science,
you have to check out my decoding of prehistoric art.
In all seriousness, check my website, you won't be disappointed
there (if you are ready to devote some time to its study,
just a peremptory look-see won't do.) Try:

Could you possibly also check out those super-heavy Egyptian
obelisks allegedly embellishing Rome in several locations?
What is their weight? Are there any descriptions of their
transport?
