I have two aquariums both Marine with Fish and Corals (some still
left). I've always had problems with red algea growing in my tank.
I have metal halide bulbs, and change them every 8 months but the
problem still persists and I'm at a loss what to do.
I've tried and do the following.
1) every once in awhile I use a phosphate sponge
2) keep the light on just 10 hours a day
3) clean as mush of the red algea out that I can get
4) try not to overfeed
5) clean tank every other week
What am I doing wrong??
Your advice would be appreciated!! (-:
Don
you can kill the spores with a strong UV light (circulate water through a
clear tube past the light)
remember that intensity has less to do with the power of the bulb (which is
expensive to change) and more to do with how close the steralizer is to your
water.
