Aggressive danios??

I've got a mixture of platys, tetras, guppies and danios
in my community tank. Everything's been fine until
today... My danios - 1 long finned zebra and 1 long finned
leopard started chasing everything else around. The two
platys look like they got nipped in their sides, my
beautiful blue male guppy got his tail nipped.
I quickly set up the spare 2 gal. tank I keep for a
hospital/isolation tank and put the danios in it. I've had
danios many times before in a community tank and there's
never been any problem so I don't understand this. I
imagine they're destined to stay in this small tank
now...<sigh>

I have 2 Zebras, and when I first put them into the tank, they kept chasing
the Neon Tetras, trying to nip them. This went on for a day or so, the
Neons' looked a little worried, but they never did bite one, and now they
have kind of stopped chasing them. ??? I don't know, I'm new to all this
stuff.

Danio's will chase. That's all they do, night and day! I'm not sure about
fin-nipping, but a male Guppy's tail is always a big lure. You would be
better if you had more Danio's, then they would shoal and chase each other.
Of course, the male Guppy will always be likely to get nipped.

Thanks for the info. I can always use an excuse to buy
more fish! :) I bet that's it, when I've had them before,
I had 4 - 6 at a time, now I've only got the 2.

Long finned danios are very aggressive. I purchased 6 blue longfinned danios and
they killed about 30 of my other fish (tetras, rasboras). I now have 6 of the
"regular" zebra danios, and they get along fine with the other inhabitants.
