HELP! orange goo

one of my 10g tanks has a problem with an orange "goo" that comes up from
the gravel. i've got a u.g. and a biowheel on this tank. occupants are 1
pleco 3",1 cory 1.5" ,5 serpae tetras ,2 gold dwarf gouramis. my pleco
seems to get ill from this stuff. any help would be appreciated. thanks

That is a slime of a bacteria called "serratia marsescens" (sp?) which is
related to e.coli.

You're overfeeding.

Are you cleaning your gravel when you are doing the water changes each
week?
