Here is a short list of people from my home area (Wise County, VA)

George C. Scott actor

Francis Gary Powers U-2 pilot shot down over Russia early 60's

Thought of more last night, but can't seem to remember them today. How
about posting some names you might know, let's see what Appalachia has
contributed in terms of impact on the US and world.

Wasn't Jerry West from W.Va.? And my uncle Buzz Nutter was raised in
W.Va. He was a center for the Baltimore Colts back when they won the
Super Bowl with Johnny Unitas. He's not famous, but quite an
accomplishment from someone who attended Vinson High School.
Professional football sure was a lot different back then, too! What
other sports figures have come from Appalachian area?

Another famous basketball player from West Virginia -- Hal Greer from
Huntington. At one time he and Jerry West were both in the top five of
all time NBA scorers.
Also didn't Marshall coach Cam Henderson invent the fast break?

Brad Daughtery was from Black Mountain, NC, which is in the heart of the
Appalachian/Blue Ridge Mtns.

Also of historical interest. Exxum Clement was the first woman elected in
the state of North Carolina to serve as a member of the NC Legislature
before the vote was accorded to women.

Also Zebulon Vance, Civil War Governor of NC was from Appalachia as well.

You must be a little dim.

You're thinking of Brad Daugherty, the great UNCCH basketball star from Black Mountain.

Ironically, Brad is black and Zeb Vance who was born just a few miles from Asheville was a slave-owner and slave trader who supported the Confederacy during the Civil War. Famous?

I would call that sonofabitch infamous, like the pinhead with Charge Syndrome and moron IQ, Idjit BoB Wilston from McDowell County who is an obsessed psycho, trolls here in alt.appalachian every day by constantly shoveling shit, wallows in squalid Huntington Beach slums, and is too cowardly to troll under his real name because he is a convicted child molester who buggers little boys. He ought to be taken out and shot and his degenerate carcass dumped in a public sewer.

Now if'n that ain't a troll... anyways ironically Larribald is a lil' dim and obviously trolls black basketball players.

Don'cha mean Jerry West is a basketball player and this Idjit BoB Wilston yew refer to might jest be a psycho but at least he ain't bald! Less git our priorities strait there Larribaldo.
