Seems to me Mr Spitzer is just what eBay and PayPal really deserve.
No objection to people writing but they should address it to California.

If the Governments and the Attorneys General of the 50 states

Scams are not necessarily "scams" simply because buyers think they
are. In other words, the AG's office will do nothing.

Exactly! Where is the proof that any scam is in fact a scam? Just
because a buyer feels ripped off, and did not get what he "thought" he
would get from a transaction, does NOT make it a scam.

Spitzer just got Marsh to pay out $50 million for scamming their insurance
customers. Do you buy insurance?
I guess you folks don't know what Spitzer has been doing the last few years
?
And my dear SB....
When a seller adverts LIKE NEW and then ships broken and defective
electronic goods and then admits that the goods were never tested and also
admits that she does not even own the test equipment required to do the
testing, well... it's a scam.

If a seller did that, his FB profile would clearly reflect it.
As a buyer, you should "read" as seller's FB and ask questions before
bidding, and not afterwards. If you do not get satisfactory info, or a
satisfactory reply, then solution is quite simple...Do not bid. If you
ignore that and bid anyway, then live with the fact that you were an
idiot, learn form it, and move on. But either way, stop the darn
whinning...no one is really listening to you or is going to help you
if they are. You must "learn" to help yourself.

I suggest to you that someone will start a web site and blog to cover
all the buyers that were not only ripped off by eBay sellers but were
also ignored when the innocent buyers complained to both eBay customer
service and Paypal.
Your input is important to me and your feedback would be appreciated.
How does this sound to you?
www.iWasScrewedOnEbayByEbaySellers.org
Users of such a web site could record their payment for goods never
received or that did not work as advertised, all in secret to the
blogger.
The blogger would then allow eBay 24 hours to investigate the claim and
either respond with a very good excuse or a refund. Failing which, the
blog may report the scam to the public.
Have a very nice day :)

Agreed! Often I am indeed torn between certain aspects of the extreme
right vs those of the extreme left and many in between. Clearly, those
who see only one side will condemn me for many of my views. In reality
however, the combination of my age, my education and my experiences
have given me the insight to know that neither side is ideal...from
Marx to Rand. I could write volumes on that...another place...another

Yes, 1981....over a decade before the Internet came into existence as
we know it today. Prior to that, there were no domain registrations or
the like. In fact in 1981, there were not even PCs around. There were
just very basic "Apple" systems, and they certainly did not have the
ability to access any Internet system, even if one did exist.
SB
1973
Development began on the protocol later to be called TCP/IP, it was
developed by a group headed by Vinton Cerf from Stanford and Bob Kahn from
DARPA. This new protocol was to allow diverse computer networks to
interconnect and communicate with each other.

Not true, SB In the early '80's was the Northstart Advantage that ran CPM.
It was a fully networkable "PC" (looked like a Radio Shack TRS-80) that IBM

Yes, but there was no Internet per se in the early 80s. All any user
could do was dial up to a BBS board. There was nowhere else to go. The
Internet, as we know it, did not come along until the 1990-1991 when
domain registrations for .com .net and .org were made public.
The argument of the OP was that he was on the "Internet" since 1981,
which would be impossible since there was no Internet until virtually
a decade later.

That was NOT the Internet as we know it today. Again, there were NO
domain names back then so you could NOT contact another site without
going through a University or Government System which linked to them
through gopher or telnet systems.

I think you know the answer to your "Why?" Philip. It is because he is
not nearly the "seasoned computer user" as he claims to be. I am sure
of this for several reasons:
1. His grammar level. One who has been on the Internet and "writing
code" for over 20 years would now be at least be in their early 40s.
His grammar level is far from being anywhere near that level.
2. His language level. His language is that of a punk kid who has not
yet learned how to formulate views, and communicate them to others.
3. If he indeed was writing code as early as 1981, he would be
considered as one of the pioneers of the Internet, and certainly
would, I think, have a much more polished (non-gutter trash)
background.
4. A "professional" would have simply pointed out any mistakes or
errors which I or Jamie initially made, and point us to additional
information as you did. Immediately reverting instead to name calling
as he did proves his immaturity, and indeed labels him an uneducated
kid.
5. As you say, top posting is a no-no. One so seasoned as he claims
should well have known the difference. He apparently does not.
6. He sent me an e-mail from his prime ISP account. From the header,
it is easy to see his real e-mail address, as well as his "sympatico"
USER ID. Anyone with only a grain of "real" computer savvy would know
better than to do that to anyone posting in a public forum. Again,
obviously a kid with no real world experience.
7. And here is the BIG one. He asked whether or not he should contact
the FBI regarding my post. I wonder why he would want to do that given
the fact that we are both in Canada. Surely with all his computer
expertise, he should easily have been able to determine that I am also
in Canada. He is in Canada with his ISP at Sympatico.ca. Again,
obvious proof that he is a kid with next to zero real computer
experience.
I could go on, but why bother! People like him, are simply not worth
the trouble.
