Big, Bald, Ugly and a Thief! That is how I can best describe Marty Fike
owner of Consumer Depot in Nashville, TN. They have a WIDE variety of Ebay
Names they sell under. Do NOT buy anything from this asshole who uses the
following Ebay ID's:

Surplusdealz05
SWDiscounters
BargainDepot04
BargainUniverse05
TechGraveyard
Ubid-it
Returndealz05

Ebay continues to allow these jerks to sell. They just down ONE Ebay ID and
another one pops up the same day. Their M.O. is that they sell a lot of
JUNK, then when the buyer attempts to complain, they can't get through by
phone (no answering machine) and all email responses are automated. No REAL
person ever responds to an email but if you DARE try to leave negative
feedback, they do it to you. I just paid Square Trade to remove mine since
Marty Fike's end was uncooperative.

Here is the track record from the Nashville, TN Better Business Bureau about
Martin Fike and Consumer Depot. Buyer Beware and avoid Martin and Carol

Industry Tips

Computer - Buying

The Better Business Bureau suggests that you follow these guidelines
when shopping for a computer:

* Keep in mind that you may not be able to visit the physical
location of the company, meaning telephoneor e-mail contact may
be your only resources for resolving problems.

* Make a note of the exact type and quantity of merchandise
ordered, and when orders are shipped, get the tracking number
from the company so that you can keep tabs on the package
yourself.

* Be aware that some companies offer a limited - and strictly
enforced - return policy, often 30 days or less, and that
transportation time for repairs will use much or all of that
time. * If your computer comes with a warranty, get all the terms
before purchasing. What time frame is offered? How will service
be performed - will it be on-site or, will you need to return
the system to the dealer for repairs? Also be aware that many
warranties are invalidated if someone other than the authorized
repair facility attempts to fix the system - this includes you.

* Be aware that restocking fees and shipping charges are
frequently assessed, no matter what the company representatives
may imply.

* Be leery of companies that ship computers without providing the
software documentation. This may be a clue that you have
received a computer with pirated software.

* When your purchase arrives, check it thoroughly to ensure you
have received everything you ordered. Is the modem operating at
the speed you expect? Did you receive all the memory you
ordered? Is the hard drive the right size? You may check these
specifics by selecting the "My Computer" and "Control Panel"
icon. In an adjoining window called "Device Manager",
you can confirm that the properties are what you
requested.

* Report any problems to the dealer immediately. Document the
entire repair history and costs.

This seller sounds like a perfect fit for eBay.

I too, learned the hard way about this company. At the time (I bought
from SWDiscounters) their feedback was not as low as it is now. Most
big companies do have a few negatives, in my experience, so I went
ahead and bid on a Game CD that was advertised as "New In Box." It
was NOT new as advertised. The box came smashed/opened and the CD was
all scratched up. When I tried to approach this company, all I got was
automated responses. No "real person" ever got back with me. I tried
calling and could not get through. They state on their site that ALL
SALES ARE FINAL but why do they lie and advertise something as NEW IN
BOX when it is not new?

They left me negative feedback, I have tried contacting Ebay who
continues to give me the runaround or not responding at all. I've
turned in this company for not having full contact infomation - bad
phone number, no full address, etc..., but all they do is change from
ONE non-working number to another. I had to pay too, to have the bad
feedback removed that they left me - $19.95 to Square Trade. I'm out
only $22.50 for the game but the point is, I hate it that Ebay
continues to allow this kind of junk to go on.

Oh well....My fault I guess for not doing more research.

1. Why did you get a negative in the first place? Did you give this
seller a negative first? The fact that you paid to have it removed
tells me 2 things: 1) That this was a long time ago; and 2) Your FB
rating at that time was perfect or near perfect, so you wanted to
protect it. If that was the case, then what were you thinking if and
when you left the negative for this seller?

2. How exactly would you like to see eBay take more action against
sellers who abuse the system in this manner? Be specific.

3. Would you agree to eBay taking a zero tolerance position against
non-paying bidders (ie. out with 1 strike), or having a buyer's
account instantly terminated after a chargeback? Be specific?

The only way to stop this is for buyers to become more astute in what
to look, so that they can always avoid such auctions. The info is
always there. Buyers just have to learn to spot it and use it.

Why don't you tell eBay to spot and use the info and blow away the scamming
sellers. Why ask the buyers to sweep the floor and mop up? Does Wal*Mart
expect customers that walk into the store for the first time to do
management's job? The shit that eBay gets away with as regards allowing
scammers a safe haven will stop one day, and at eBay's great expense.

one thing that would dramatically change ebay
is feedback that is either divided between
selling & buying feedback......

buyer rating
seller rating

but what would work fast is if feedback ratings only applied
to sellers....and they were NOT allowed to neg a buyer
in revenge.....

posting a response to neg feedback from a customer should
suffice.....
the ability of being able to reciprocate a neg is flawed.....
as long as the ability to respond with comments to a neg
and the buyer be able to then respond again.....

i.e. neg= this buyer ripped me off!
seller response= lies blah blah blah!
buyer response= liar! you sent me a box of newspapers!
I was buying a working laptop computer!

would make reading feedback worthwhile......
if not fun at least.....
