I have abunch of citadel paints from wh40k and was wondering how they
would fare on gundam kits. Supplemented with some of those translucent
paints from Gunze could they work?-(BTW-where can i order some)

They work just fine. They dry (out) rather quickly but they work pretty
well.

Yes, they do. I used them on my gundam kits too. Speaking of which how many
of us gundam fans are converting mobile suits for use in wh40k ? I've
already got plans for using the GW endless waltz heavy arms for an imperial
war machine. Any one else have these ideas?

Oooh...

I have a few VDR designs that probably just scream cheese. I'll post them
when I find them.

Well against everybody in, I think citadel paints are a pain in the kazooie!

there fine for the little pilot guys who come with the new 1/144 and the EW
pilots but not on the gundams themselves, I prefer using revell paints on
the suits, which doesnt give of so many differences in layers of paint.

I used the citadel paints for years and thought they were good. I like the
colors and they worked great for the 144, sometimes difficult with the 1/100
scale models due to how fast the dry. Once I got my first perfect grade I
moved to Tamiya, which are easier to get then the Gunze for me. I do all my
base painting via airbrush and then just detail work with brush or
pen/marker.

The big problem with the Citadel paints is that they're thick and dry fast.
I used them on a 1/100 Zeta Gundam and it has problems transforming because
the paint makes some parts to thick to snap into place. Also the Citadel
paints scrape easy and really need to be coated in a finish of you plan to
do more then just place the model on the shelf when your down. They also
tend to leave streaks from drying if you don't cover areas well on the first
pass.

I love em. I have a ton of five-year-old paints I just broke out for my 1/100
Shining Gundam (pics soon!)

One thing to do with some of the colours, is to put one coat of un-diluted
paint, and then dilute the paint somewhat and make a second or third coat. This
covers up better and smooths some stuff out. You'll see :)

Note that I only use a traditional brush. No airbrushing for me!

But is it possible to air brush with the citadel paints?
