Eric, for some reason, this newsgroup doesn't even load into my reader any
more, even though I'm subscribed. I just checked it on a whim and saw your
stuff.

I think just about everyone left here some time ago and now talk about the
cartoons on various web forums. It's too bad as there were lots of fine
discussions here once upon a time when Usenet wasn't taken over by kooks and
spammers.

The reason Usenet has nearly died has to do with the Attorney General of New
York pressuring the ISP's to drop it by claiming that Kiddie Porn perverts
were using Usenet to distribute material. I doubt this, but instead of
simply removing the image groups, or telling New York to fuck off and fight
'em in court, the ISP's dropped Usenet all together.
