Spumco has a new web cartoon up at adultswim.com... It pushes the edges
of the capabilities of older computers, but those with new machines will
see some pretty remarkable technological advancements over our early
webcartoons.

http://www.adultswim.com/clips/shorts/boo_boo/index.html

Check it out.

See; Ted... THIS is much more of what we all want to see.
Not the boys, wasting time, keeping an out of date page up.

Yes, it would take so very much time to keep an out of date page up.
Imagine the time involved in the type of place that could direct
visitors who don't read Usenet or MOTLOS to the cartoon. Why, a news
page update could take up to four times as long as posting to usenet.

thank you for pointing that out. it was awesome. i was expecting some two
minute throw away, but that was a full length cartoon with lots of characters
and elaborate animation (for flash that is). nice yogi impression, by the way.
were the other two yogi cartoons done in flash? they didn't look it. but
i'd love to see those online. 'boo boo runs wild' is simply one of the
funniest things spumco ever released. if fact, what projects are you guys
planning on using flash for and how to do you decide?
and thanks for continuing to post to these newsgroups to keep us up to date.
i know you don't have to. and in the face of the constant douchebaggery you
put up with around here, i'm surprised you post anything at all. so on behalf
of the appreciative fans, thank you.

No, those were done like we do TV animation.

> what projects are you guys
> planning on using flash for and how to do you decide?

Generally, we use traditional animation for TV and Flash just for
web cartoons, but we have reached the point where our web animation
is actually as elaborate as our TV work. Hopefully, soon everyone will
get a chance to see Weekend Pussy Hunt episode 12. That is the most
amazing animation we've done yet in Flash.

This cartoon was supposed to be a two minute throwaway gag, like the
earlier Jetsons web cartoons. But John really felt strongly about the
story and wanted to make it a full length cartoon. Glad you like it!

Steve - are the Jetsons cartoons still up anywhere at Adult Swim? Or elsewhere?

Thanks for the Boo Boo short, and your Yogi is dead-on!

Those were on the cartoon network site. You might try poking around
there.

If you didn't want me to post about it, then perhaps you shouldn't have
addressed the issue, and you certainly shouldn't have started your post
with my name.

That's not even funny in a classic National Lampoon sort of way. It's just
plain sick and disturbing. It's just the unwarrented perverting a likable
unobnoxious character. And what's with Boo Boo's slight Spanish accent?

Probaly confusing a bear with an asthma-hound chihuahua. That happens
to John K. quite a lot (liked the toon myself but was wondering John,
this is not REN-this is Boo Boo, BOO BOO!!!!which that voice was.)

I thought the Boo Boo voice was fine. I don't know why all the commotion!
It's John doing his voice of Boo Boo.

I guess it's also really annoying with that Red M&M. I mean, come on, this
is not Stimpy, this is RED M&M!!!! And why the heck does Yosemite Sam sound
like Mr. Spacely?!? How come Yoda sounds like Cookie Monster?!? I thought
so.

The voice is the minor criticsm.
The short was garbage.

Is it just me or does it seem to be going for "disgusting shock" value rather
than trying for genuine "wit"?

I liked the art and animation (especially considering it's all Flash) but the
writing just wasn't up to snuff.

(I thought the voice was pretty far off, too, but when you're the boss I guess
nobody wants to give it to you straight.)

What, per say, makes this short 'garbage'? It can't be the quality or
the animation. Just like all previous Spumco webtoons it pushes the
limits of Flash animation, so it can't be that. Because it asks
questions we all were wondering, but afraid to ask? Why IS Yogi so
tall anyway? Is it because there is classic cartoon violence?
Hmmm... That seems like a pretty weak criticism. Perhaps you just
like 'innocent' cartoons. If that's the case you should just go watch
the 70s 'classic' Yogi's Gang, where, for some reason, Yogi had a
flying ark and fought injustices instead of causing them. Now that
was an unwarranted perverting of a classic character.

Also, are you trying to insinuate that there wasn't something sick and
disgusting about National Lampoon? That's what National Lampoon
magazine was! Hell the first issue of it was called the Sex Cover
Issue. Perhaps you are referring to such articles as 'The First
Blowjob' or maybe 'My Vagina.'

When a 'cartoon' (I use that term strictly in the sense that it is
animated, crudely animated, but animated non-the-less) like South Park
is on the air something like this should be commended! If this one
short instills one child somewhere to check out the original Yogi Bear
shorts, opening themselves to a world that not many people explore
anymore, a world called Hanna Barbara, then it is a great success.

I loved the parody of Tom & Jerry where the cat gets a safe dropped
on his pelvis and as he is throwing up blood, he sceams, "YECCHHH!
My spine!" When I was a kid, that made me laugh every time I saw it.

Yeah, I knowq what you meant. For the record, BTW I also enjoyed the
voice, but for GOD's SAKE-Boo Boo ain't SPANISH!!!!!! :)

(Even more odd though is that SPACE JAM Bugs with Billy West doing
STIMPY for Bugs..a la Mel Blanc.:->)

LOL. Jim Backus, Sheldon leonard, Sterling Holloway, just among real
oldtimers..(it really confounded me to hear Kaa in the 1967 original
Phil Harris/Louis Prima/Sebastian Cabot Walt Disney Jungle Book have,
courtesy of Sterling Holloway, Sterling's famous Pooh voice, but you
know what was even more wierd? Chuck Jones's treatment of the SAME
Rudyard Kipling-ers, with similiar AND Jones design, wile Wile
E.Coyote design (in ALL his specials from this one onward and in
TIMBERWOLF)_ grafted on but oldtime radio actor Les Tremayne, rather
than Phil Harris.:-)
