I clipped this from one of Mack's posts to rec.outdoors.national-parks.
I must be missing something, I can't believe Yellowstone would make
such a big mistake. If you guys could read it and tell me what I'm
missing I'll sleep better.

The whole post is here:
http://x36.deja.com/[ST_rn=ps]/getdoc.xp?AN=565524805&CONTEXT=947768511.

"However, as the new Superintendent of Yellowstone National Park, I AM
going to ban cross country skiing in two certain areas, even though I
don't have "scientific evidence" that it causes undue stress on the
critters living there. Want to know why I'm going to do this, which,
by the way, is well within my authority? I'm going to order this
because logic and common sense tells me that these two particular
groups of critters would have a tough time locating another nearby area
to winter in (they're taken) AND that the area is becoming quite
crowded with skiers, AND it will be easier for the skiers to adapt,
i.e., find other places to ski, than it will be for the critters to
adapt, i.e., by wintering elsewhere."

The whole post may be there, but, knowing the habits of the original
poster, I doubt that was the whole quote since he is a master at
taking snippets out of context. Take for instance his quote <and
constant referance to the ex-trapper> He loves the "traps cause pain"
quote,, but in the same breath, slams the author when the author says
trapping is needed. Need anything more be said?

You're right, he has been nailed repeatedly using misquotes and partial
quotes deceptively(lying). What bothers me about this particular quote
is that Mack seems to be saying that HE is the new superintendent of
Yellowstone.

Don't sweat it . Read his posts to Alt.Native American where he calls them

I'm not as familiar with mack as most of you, but it seems that most of
his lies come in the form of mis-quotes and incomplete quotes. Unless I
am reading something wrong (and I hope I am), he is claiming to be the
new superintendent of Yellowstone. That bothers me, because the guy does
not have a realistic view of wildlife management.

I haven't looked at many of his posts. What little I've seen would
demonstrate a relative ignorance of basic scientific methodology, wildlife
conservation principles, or even a basic knowledge of the natural world. In
other words, I can't imagine that he has sufficient education to be
considered for a position in adminstration of wild public lands, let alone a
prestigious area like Yellowstone. Most programs of that caliber involve
some sort of education in environmental biology.

I can only assume that we didn't clearly understand his apparent claim to
hold that position.

Not to worry . About a year ago he claimed to know the super and was going
to do something about the wolves and bison .
Mack lives out in Jackson and seems to overstate things from time to time.

The reason this has bothered me so much is that I may transfer to a job
at Yellowstone(I'm already a gov't employee) and the thought of Mack
being in a position to influence my life had me creeped out. I
actually called the Yellowstone super's office, and not only does
Finley have no intention of leaving, but the people I talked to have
never heard of Mack. Not only that, but a co-worker of mine who
recently transferred from Grand Teton National Park has never heard of
him and didn't recognize his picture. I'd say Mack is nothing more than
a blowhard whose activism begins and ends at his computer keyboard.
Make that a delusional blowhard.

I read the initial posting and no where in that post does Mack claim to be
the new superintendant of Yellowstone. Someone who read the post, started
a rumor and everyone else seems to have just jumped on the rumor mill.

Read for comprehension.

Ok, it's time to put up or shut up. Repost the original. Then we can see who
made the claim. If it turns out that you are correct, then the BRAYing Jackass
is only guilty of plagiarism, since he did not give the original author credit.

(a) I'm not an anesthesiology biller. (b) I don't drink therefore, I'm
always sober and (c) you go back and read his original post as he never
claimed to be the director of the park, he was only quoting which, someone
on another thread just verified since he claims to know the six page
document that the original quote comes from.....
