CANTON, Ga. (AP) — Health officials say a kitten that hung
around a Starbucks north of Atlanta has tested positive for
rabies, and officials are warning people who might have come in
contact with it.
Authorities tell The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
(
http://bit.ly/A39Noz) that the gray-striped kitten with medium-
length fur was at a Starbucks on Riverstone Parkway in Canton
from Feb. 22 to March 1. Health officials say that several
people may have handled it.
Authorities say that in early March, a woman took the kitten to
her Canton home, where others may have handled it.
Later, a veterinarian took the animal to her home in Lumpkin
County, where the vet was bitten twice after it was frightened
by her dogs. The veterinarian found the kitten dead on Sunday,
and it tested positive for rabies.
