Does anyone else out there take their cats for walks?
I was walking the dog to the shops the other day and I heard this
pathetic wailing in the distance behind me. Naturally curious I turned
round only to find that my six cats had decided to come for walkies
too and the pathetic wails were coming from my disabled cat who
couldn't keep up with the rest! I think maybe they were out to ensure
that I got the RIGHT kind of catfood this time!

Yes, Max the Manx goes everywhere with me. He walks on a leash
(with a harness--never use collars on cats), but does not like
the concept of "heel", so I carry him a lot. he likes to come with
me to school, where he can hang out in the newpaper office, on his
chair in the computer lab, or napping on one of the sofas in the
libraries. Although the official school policy is that no
non-humanoid lifeforms are permitted, the campus cops all like Max.
But since it is a Jesuit school, and they do push tolerance for
alternative religious beliefs, I suppose I could claim a religious e
exemption--I have certain Wiccan beliefs, and he is my familiar.
He likes to go to Mass, too--he sits quietly on the pew next to me.
I just started going to a Jesuit parish near school, and no one
has said anything to me about Max, so I guess it's all right.
He rides in a tote bag when it is necessary for him not to be noticed.
He likes to go to the park, although the canine-Americans annoy him
a great deal with their loud, pushy, attitudes. I mean, they always
want to shove their doggy noses RIGHT IN THE BUTT with no foreplay . . .
and you know that they DON'T EVEN CLEAN THEMSELVES and even worse,
THEY DON'T COVER IT UP WHEN THEY RELIEVE THEMSELVES!

I don't "take" Misty, but she insists on coming along when we go for a walk
through the orchard with the dogs. She meows all the way, jogging behind us.
When we let the dogs loose to run, she delights in scooting up the first handy
tree to taunt them. When they give up on trying to climb up after her, and
leave, she calmly climbs back down and walks along with us.

They all have so much fun playing!

I am the mother of 5 indoor cats. 2 of the 5 meow at the door all day
unless I take them out for a walk. I just put them both on leashes and
let them walk around the house. They seem to love it, especcially when
they get to trample over all the vegetables in the garden. I always worry
that one day that cats will get loose, and I will never see them again.
By doing this, maybe they won't have as much of an urge to sneak out of
the house.
