We know chess is a very logical game as computers can be programmed to
play it very well. For humans it requires insight to see winning
strategies. If dolphins could be taught chess we could watch them play
against humans, computers, and each other and *that* would be very
insightful to us about the dolphin mind. We would see just how logical
and insightful they are. We know they can think logically as they can
be trained to answer yes or no questions and follow certain
instructions. Of course, it may be kinda complicated to teach a dolphin
everything about chess to begin with. But perhaps starting with fewer
pieces (like 3) and a smaller chessboard could work.
Has anybody tried teaching dolphins chess? Have they been taught any
other logical games?
