Lost 2 cats last year 16 & 18 yrs. They got along but not cuddly.
After a while, I adopted 4yr old spayed female at MSPCA
(Massachusetts). Lovely cat likes me, very playful. Three weeks after
I adopted her, I adopted a 2 yr old female cat at a shelter.
Apparently the shelter got the cat from the "southern tier" US. She
was a very nice but timid cat. I isolated the new cat for four days.
The older cat pretty much terrorized the new cat. The new cat was
afraid to pee in the litter box even if the room door was shut. After
a couple of weeks of this, I returned the new cat to the shelter. I
didn't ask or expect my donation back. I've had cats all my life and
introduced new cats/kittens and this is the first I've ever had to
return one.
So now is three months later. No problems with the 4 year old. She's
pretty well behaved, has never scratched or bitten me. She doesn't
like being held but loves to climb up and lie on my lap to be petted.
She still loves to play with her toys, yowls at night and brings toys
up to my bedroom like outdoor cats bring mice.
My question, I thinking of introducing a kitten (from MSPCA) into the
house. Can I expect the same reaction as with the two year old? And
will the kitten pester the older one to play? Any suggestion,
comments? Thanks in advance.
