I just got a super fast cable modem but the server does not allow viewing or
posting of photos to non-binaries ngs. I still have my 56K modem service
but it would be nicer to use my cable modem for photos (that's why I got it
in the first place). I've definitely seen many posts from other people with
this problem. There would probably be many more photo posts and people
involved in this ng if we changed it to alt.binaries.amazon-women.admirers.
Is the originator of this ng still around? Does someone like Jabber or
Yggos want to begin a new ng for photos?

James Harris found the same problem long ago and created a newsgroup in the
binaries area to solve it (alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.female.bodybuilder).
It has been taken over by porno hucksters.

I have been using ADSL for almost 3 years and only encounter this problem at the
other end. Virtually all non-binary newsgroups occasionally have binaries
posted and most ISPs don't appear to care. Those who do care appear to be
trying to cut costs (ISP peering fees are traffic based).

I suggest that you find an alternate ISP. There must be plenty of competition
in high speed access in New York.

Or you can use another news server - I use SuperNews (aka Remarq)
since my ISP seems to not have all messages (ie, SuperNews has
messages that ISP doesn't have) plus my ISP message retention times
sometimes drops to only a few hours before they're deleted. There is
a cost, however, but it is a solution if you want to stick with the
same ISP.

Paul, many of us cross-post in alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.female.bodybuilder
as well. But if it's also true that several providers don't carry the erotica
newsgroups, so maybe your idea is not so bad after all.

There actually is no competition for the cost. My cable connection is
faster than a T2 line and I pay only $40 a month. My neighbor pays $100 for
a T1 line, much slower than my connection and DSL is a snail in comparison
for the same price. Don't want to post to the erotica ng since it's 95%
porn spam anyways. Why not a new ng? Does it cost anything? Does anyone
know if it is difficult? I can have my webmaster set it up if it's not too
time consuming. Any suggestions?

ME??? Jeez, i'm faltered...seriously. But Jabber's , like, 1,000,000,000 times
more of a participant to fbbs than me (I still busy with art and a new college
and stuff). This ng is more of an hobby to me. With my broadband, i just
happend to do alot more alot faster so it just seems like I'm more involved in
fbb world. PLUS, jabber has gone to more contests than me so he takes more
pics than me (although I've been kinda working behind the scenes with various
websites to help them out) Jabber has more resources and great pics.

The only thing i could suggest is PERHAPS trying to a). post even more stuff in
the spam laddened alt.erotica.pictures fbb ng or b). use fitness-centerolds to
do the posting (Bill's done it many times0.

Oh...from what i hear you have to talk to the heads who run the WHOLE usenet
thing and get some people to vote for it (like us). If enough people say yes,
then it'll be official. ALSO, you should get a moderator so no spammers get
through (alt.binaries.fitness-centerfolds seem to be doing REALLY well
nowadays...at least compared to erotica.fbb).

How fast is your cable modem because Verizon's dsl service is 640kb down for 40
dollars (I switched to 1.6mb down recently and I'm taking a hit for it :(

Yeah, one: Forget it. Knowing that you will be posting there the new
group will fill up with spam quicker than a bowl of mashed potatoes. Abd
then we'll have idiots crossposting to this newsgroup that their ISP
doesn't carry the new group so could you please crosspost your
binary...ad nauseum.

A law of science: two idiots can't make a half baked idea work. If you
and Yuggos were the least bit capable of taliking with your ISP you
would get binaries carried in this newsgroup as per the FAQ.

But my guess is that you are too God awful dumb to even find the FAQ,
And if you're too dumb to get your ISP to carry binaries in what is a
binary newsgroup to begin with then how are you gonna get him to carry
the new newsgroup???? Hello???

I imagined that there weren't many people visiting the erotica ng. Tonight
I seem to be getting picture posts here. Don't know why but I'm going to
try to post a photo and see what happens. I'm also going to look into
beginning a binaries ng for amazons. No matter what, it will expand the
viewers here.

Doh! maybe you should try one of the new "no spam" hierarchies in your
new newsgroup quest, such as

alt.binaries.nospam.DopeyDobbinsPics.

Come to think of it, that would make a fine newsgroup title! Except
nospam and Dobbins are mutually exclusive.

Before the message reach your server it goes through several other
(in many cases 20-30) servers. If anyone of those servers block
binaries the message will never reach your server. Maybe there is a
"clear" path between C-P's and your server.

How does "nospam" guarantee that there will be no spam in that group?
I thought the only way spam could 100% be taken care of is through use
of a moderator. Do "nospam" groups automatically delete crossposting?

nospam works, Poster. In fact, noanything works more effectively than you
could imagine. The last time I said noshit I became constipated for weeks!

There is a basic problem and contradiction here: If Goode forms a
"nospam" group then he is obviously not allowed to post there.

Kinda a Catch-22 with the added benefit of not having to put up with
spammer Goode anymore.

Not really sure how the spammers go about selecting NGs, but that line of
thought seems plausable enough. Since the people who will use and promote the
propsed NG will be AAWA'ers and other related NGs how about alt.binaries.AAWA
which is cryptic to anyone not in the know. Any femuscle admirerers will
ineviably find out about it from a related website or NG. Unless the spammers
are actually visiting groups to learn the subject matter, a somewhat cryptic
name might help. I think Poster was on the right track with that suggestion.
The moderator idea is a possibility as well, though for a binaries NG it
would be a tremendous burden on the moderator(s), even those with high
bandwidth connections... face it, that is a LOT of downloading, and reviewing
for anyone (single or multiple moderators alike) to do on a regular basis.
