As posted on remarq.com homepage :
Dear Users,

On August 15th, Critical
Path will be shutting down
the RemarQ.com web
site. Critical Path will
continue to offer access to Usenet
through our Supernews Personal
Accounts. We would like to thank
for you support of the RemarQ.com
web site.

Any other free qeb based newgroup readers that let you see
binaries also?

I shudder at the thought of how many people they are letting down. Remarq was
a good service and hardly a small time player... things like this dont
exactly give netizens the warm fuzzies towards a company.

Looks like people are going to have to (finally) post their binaries in
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.female.bodybuilder so that the large
number of us who aren't allowed to view binaries in non-binary groups
can see them. If you don't have the a.b.p.e.f.b newsgroup, request it.
That is unless someone can direct us to another service like Remarq.

I was an original Deja-guy several years ago, but when they dumped
photo files, RemarQ was there to save the day. I enjoyed a good run
with them, but now they, too, have abandoned their loyal followers.

Well, who will be next to step up to the plate?

BTW, I liked RemarQ better, because you could view multiple messages at
once, a huge time-saver.

I don't understand what you guys are sqwaking about: Supernews is still
supporting 60000 newsgroups and all binary postings.

All that's down is the web based newsport, which I can't understand why
anyone would rely on that for news server anyway. Use a real news
server, forget this lisserver and www based stuff.

What I am squawking about is the loss of the ability to receive binary
attachments for free. Supernews will give a trial, but then one must
pay $$$ to stay with them -- so much, in fact, as to treble my internet
costs.
My own ISP does NOT receive binary attachments for AAWA, presumably
because it is not a "binary" newsgroup.
Please, will the few of you who still can receive binary attchments for
AAWA, and everyone else, PLEASE cross-post to
alt.binaries.erotica.female.bodybuilder . That way many more of us can
see what the few of you are talking about, and contribute in a
meaningful way.
I know ABPEFB gets much spam, but for people like me it is our only hope

Log onto and use one of the many many free Usenet servers. Do a Yahoo
search for Open Usenet Servers and you will discover that there are
hundreds of them. Most preserve binaries.

Thanks for reminding me. (I never thought I'd see myself saying thanks
to Dr. Arm.) You're right, web-based news does suck.

Instead of playing guessing games, how about you do a good little public
service and just post the addresses of some of these news servers?

I think agent might be able to help .....you download it and it uses your isp's
newsreader (a little more efficent than outlook). Now, if your talking about
getting a totally free service without the use of your isp's newserver ......i
think you all are out of luck. I haven't found any yet.

Hahaha, yeah, sure. And anything else I can do to make you more
comfortable, like maybe get you a big fluffy chhair and a pillow for
your ass?

Hahaha. Good one.

No pillow, thanks. But the name of a free news server that carries AAWA
binaries would be nice. But it appears you don't really know of one, you
were just trying to sound like you knew what you were talking about, and
now can't deliver the goods.

I'm sure you've heard that before...

Dr Arm doesn't know of any decent server that is why he cannot answer your
question.

You can check out quite a few lists of open nttp servers on the web as has
been suggested, or in that free newsserver newsgroup *however* finding one
which carries binaries or this group is a problem. A lot of the free ones
won't let you post either. And often they are only up temporarily and stop
working shortly after. Many of them do not work at all even though they are
listed as working correctly.

You can spend hours trying to find a decent one. So I think the truth is
that there is no 'secret cool free news server' which everyone uses, if I
knew of a rock solid one I would post it here.

I think it sucks that greedy ISPs the world over are trying to make money by
making you pay to view binaries in this way.

"A Yahoo search for 'Open Usenet Servers'" yeilds

http://dir.yahoo.com/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Chats_and_Forums/Usenet/Public_Access_Usenet_Sites/ (Websites)

and

http://google.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=Open+Usenet+Servers&hc=0&hs=2 (Webpages)

Within Websites is

http://www.freenntp.com/ the actual list resides here
http://www.freenntp.com/complete.htm which shows servers by post/read and
read-only status -- I'd say start with the servers shown to carry the most
groups.

http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Pines/3959/usenet.html is broken into
lists... this one is old and has not been updated but has many servers
listed... roll the dice and see if you find something.

Within Webpages is

http://www.canue.com/ looked promising, try for yourself

http://freenews.maxbaud.net/ kept current, VERY current, 8/18/00 current

There's EVEN a webring for it

http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=nntp;list

Using these servers is gonna be hit or miss. Even if you find one it could
soon deny access. Something for nothing is simply a trade off of time in
place of money. If someone wanted to provide a service like this for free to
the general public we'd here of them, hence the servers in these lists are an
oversight on the part of whomever set them up, hence when they notice
unauthorized usage they correct the oversight.

Yeah, that'll convince me to post something helpful for you. Like,
never, doode.

And if I'm sooo stooopid, why is it that you're the shit-for-brain that
doesn't have the posts?

Hmmm, kinda makes you think, huh?

Well here's a hint for you, Cracker: Get off your butt and do a SEARCH!

Ya know what a SEARCH is, don't ya? It's like what you do in the morning
when your mom hasn't left your socks at the end of the bed for you.

Or maybe you can't SPELL newserver?

And what kind of Cracker takes "breakaleg" as a .url except an ACTOR?
Well, in that case, ACT like you got the posts!
